Hope you are all good

Little help, I've been looking at my new aqusition and trying to find out when it came out ? Also, did the black dial come before bluesy ??

You don't see many vintage T/T watches about ?

Can someone fill me in !!

The TT Sub was introduced in 1983, and the Black TT was the first one to appear. After that, the TT Blue came.

I also think all TT Submariners came with a sapphire crystal ever since and the movement on them has always been the caliber 3135 which is the one on the current model today.

I don't know about Sub's, but I have a TT GMT I (1969) "Root Beer". I bought it on an genuine alligator strap (not Rolex-marked) that is fairly old. I have no idea what the bracelet/strap originally was (TT oyster or jubilee or leather.)

Yes, the original bracelet was probably swapped out for that alligator strap.

Did you ask about the original bracelet when you purchased the watch?

A few pictures of your rootberr GMT would be very much appreciated.

It has the "nips" on the hour markers am I right?

I cannot say precisely when the TT BLUE came along, but I would guess it came pretty soon after the Black TT

Unfortunately, no, I did not ask about the original bracelet. I will try to do some pics, but I am new to the digital camera/photography game. So I apologize in advance for the quality. If you mean the gold hour indices with tiny holes for lume, yes. Now that you mention it, they do kinda look like something else I've seen before....

Much like the new GMT, the Blue Sub was first introduced as an 18k gold model (16808) probably in the very late 70's or ~1980/82 when they renumbered the ref and transitioned from the 1575 movement to the newer 3085 movement.

When the TT Sub was introduced in 1983, the Blue dial was probably an option at the time, although not common in the states.

Blue dials have been popular in Asia for some time and the TT Blue Sub has been increasing in popularity for the past several years..

(I've heard there are even a couple of owners on the Forum)
