Finally got off of the Rolex fence.....
I have been trolling the site for several months now and have been a Rolex admirer since high school. I have never been in a position to have the disposable income to justify a purchase. The last couple of years have been very good to me from a business perspective.
I went in to my local AD in Illinois and after looking around the site decided that I was not going to pay MSRP plus the tax to purchase, (they would not discount) especially after hearing that some AD's will discount. I ended up in an AD in a neighboring state today with some time to kill, and it got expensive quick! I had my choices narrowed down to 3 if I were buying pre owned from a seller on the site. A SS datejust with oyster band and white roman numeral face, a black sub or a seadweller. So what do I walk out with? A SS 116200 with a silver decorated dial with the blue arabic numbers. MSRP was $6600, I paid $5900 and since I was from out of state paid no tax. I will need to report to my home state (wink wink). Obviously got the 2 year warranty from Role and the dealer throws in an extra year at no charge. Unlimited free "freshenings" whenever I am in town and the best part, my salesperson was a gentleman who was a certified watchmaker that the AD hired directly from the Rolex service center. Knew the answer to every question that I had and made me feel good about spending $6000. Interesting things that I learned today. 1.) Did not think that I would like anything but the above 3 pieces. 2.) Roman numeral dials were not luminescent. 3.) Red date wheel and blue lumi hands rock. Don't know how to upload pic, but have one ready to go as soon as I figure it out. |

With watches its a unique case, you can never know or realise which is best for you unless you personaly try it on. Take your time, visit the AD a couple of times to wear them and then you only can decide.
Looking forward to the Incoming Thread |

Was reallllly not sure on this watch. Thought i knew what i wanted, but to see a dedicated rolex guy so excited about this piece really sold me. Glad i did it. Very unique and see very few of these, even on a forum this large.

You have a Rolex fence? I can't even imagine how much that would cost!

I also have been trolling this site for a couple of months. I always wanted a Rolex, just turned 40 and now I'm the proud owner of two very amazing watches. The TT Datejust 2 was a gift from my family, and the Milgauss GV was a watch I have wanted for a couple of years.
