Speaking as a cop. If you had reason enough to get handcuffed the scratches are on you.

Scratches on your watch, that would be a problem
Perhaps it might be best to always carry our own & if arrested ask the Cop to use them, |

It sounds like a lawyer out there will be happy to take the case, and the Rolex.
There was a case where the cop told the guy to drop the gun, he said he wanted to place it down so as not to damage it, the cop said drop it, he did, then later he sued for damage to the gun from the drop. In most cases he will not get the gun back anyway (if he is a bad guy). But what if the man with the gun was an off duty officer or the like? Personally, I'd chalk it up to normal wear and tear. |

Where I live, Law Enforcement Officers are always right and it is polite to say "yes sir/no sir" when being tazed or handcuffed. Yelling "don't TAZE ME BRO" is downright disrespectful.

LOL, this reminds me of the time I went to traffic court and the cop manning the metal detector tossed my datejust into a tray with keys and spare change. I made a comment and I dont think they liked it. However, I was not really in a position to raise any hell, dont think it would have done much!

Get your watch buffed out as scratches come and go. Scratches are a part of any watch. Show me a one year old Rolex without a scratch. No disrespect to anyone who has been arrested but if your getting arrested especially as an adult you need to look at your life and ask why. Getting arrested is for true criminals (which I feel are not on this forum) and ungovernable youth. If the police were called and a person finds him/herself under arrest they usually brought this upon themselves.

I dont know about America, but here in England if the police break down your door and find nothing then the police pay for the door. If we break down your door and find drugs the homeowner pays for the door.
We dont tend to pay for many doors ! The earlier answer about the need for reasonable force is a good one. If you behave in a way that you need to get cuffed, then you have to take the consequences.....Rolex and all. Jocke why were you handcuffed ? |
