Need help on GMT MASTER 1 16753

Just acquired a 1979 model. I cant really figure out how to operate everything and i am not sure if one position in the crown is not working. The guides out there are all based on gmt 2.

I unscrew the crown and i can wind. Then i pull once, i cant do anything clockwise but can change the date counter clockwise. then i pull one more, and i can set the time but the hour, minutes and gmt hand all move. So it is pretty much impossible to move the hour hand independent of the gmt hand.

I can move the bezel too. I just want to know if that is normal because in the gmt 2 version it say the hour hand is moved in position 1 then the minute hand on position 2.

Thank you.

What you describe is correct for a 16753
master II allows independent jumping of the hour and gmt hands
