AP RO Diver or 15400

Hello Everyone,

Looking for some thoughts and advise. I'm thinking of buying my first AP and wanted your thoughts between the two listed above. I currently have a few Rolexes, JLC, IWC and Panerai. I prefer a more casual everyday watch that is also rugged. I'm leaning towards the Diver, but there's something special about the 15400. I'm going to try both on tomorrow but I'd like to hear from the AP group as well. Pics welcome. Thanks in advance.

Between the 2 my choice would be the 15400, just love that RO bracelet.

There's no wrong answer as they are both great pieces. I'm biased as I just obtained a Diver yesterday. It appears that we have similar taste, as I own or have owned all of the brands you listed. I can tell you without hesitation that AP will not disappoint you. I love my new diver.

The ironic thing is, I actually like the look of the diver with the rubber and not crazy about the bracelet.

I went through the same decisions on the two pieces you mentioned and chose the 15400. I wanted a bracelet to change things up. Sure I could of gotten a bracelet on the diver but there's always next time.

Seems like the Diver will suit your lifestyle, so Go Diver!

Diver and get the offshore bracelet. Best of both worlds. Can be dressed up like the 15400 or casual on the rubber strap.

Edit: I do like the sapphire case back on the 15400 to see the wonderful 3120 AP movment...

Between the two...Diver - then add bracelet.

15400 is super cool...but you also mention casual everyday watch as what you prefer.

I feel the Diver is more casual. Some may say the diver isn't an everyday watch, but mine gets a ton of wrist time. I think it's a great first AP especially given the brands you currently own.

I say get the Diver first...and I say "first" intentionally because you'll probably add the 15400 later...

Happy Hunting!

IMHO, both are class watches, but I prefer the Diver on Rubber.
I think the rubber adds a little more contrast against the SS casing, and its also very versatile to wear on different types of outfits.

same choices i had... i picked the diver. like you i love the look on the rubber strap. we always have the bracelet option later on if we desire. the ONLY draw back to the diver in my mind is the solid caseback. that movt is too beautiful to hide IMO. but thats how they made it. so i picked the diver anyway.

I would vote for the 15400 as first AP because of the classic bracelet which is part of the brilliant original RO design. But the Diver is very cool too... My only minor (silly perhaps) gripe is that there isn't an "AP" emblem on Diver's dial! Good luck with either choice!

15400 trial shot

I went Diver first, because I like sports watches. Added 15400 later.

Looks like DavidSW is going to help you http://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=250578

Sandro, as previously discussed the Diver is an amazing watch. Very versatile and you won't be disappointed.

Between those 2 choices, I'd go 15400.

If I had a choice to pick a different ROO, like a Panda, I would go that route.

I have the smaller version of the 15400. The bracelet is like no other and I absolutely love it. The diver is an awesome watch. Ahhh, I can't decide either...lol. I know you will really enjoy either watch!
