RSC Question

I know that RSC does wonderful case and bracelet work. I have never used RSC because I purchased my watches within the last year but my question is, when RSC polishes a watch, do they take the care in not rounding off the lugs or the sharp edges of the case or is this simply unavoidable?

Hi Ron.

My SS Sub Date came back with a lovely polish all over, cleaned off all the scratches except for a nick here and there. The edges were ever so slightly rounded off, the expression would be 'arissed' in architectural terms, but then again, my watch had not been serviced since purchase in 1993, and had only been worn as a beater since 1998.

Thanks for the info Lee. I guess it just depends on how scuffed up the watch was. I guess in order for them to get out deep scratches, they would have to remove a lot of metal to do so.

Not always!





This is a gruesome example of a collector overdoing "home polishing"

Rest assured that RSC will polish your Rolex perfectly and that you will think it looks brand new when you get it back!

Ron, I just looked at the sub again... can't see any nicks or dints, except for the scratch on the bezel insert which I expressly told them not to replace!!

The edges compared to the newer Exp II are only marginally rounded.

The watches I've seen back after a service have had chamfered lugs, i know its never gonna be 100% but its almost like a telltale of a service.

Here's a pic of my Sub after service, it was in pretty good shape prior & there wasn't an issue with the case, it came back looking as brand new but you can see the lugs have been chamfered.

Not really. The previous owner had installed end links from a 16800. RSC, at my direction, installed a set of 580s to go with the 93250.

All in all, I feel pretty comfortable sending it to RSC if needed. Thanks for all your input guys.

Yes you can. Some collectors prefer the case not be polished as they feel it detracts from the heritage of the watch.

I once asked my AD the same question, and the reply (as Mike states) is "Yes, you can", but at least MY AD would charge me the SAME amount even if I decided not to have my Rolex refinished: DKR. 2,675 (US $ 520)
