Rado automatic movement

Hi folks,

What is your opinion of Rado watches - especially their automatic movements for gents and ladies?

Are these watches worth the money?

Thanks!

My wife has a couple of the colored Sintra models and we have had no problems with them. I just had both serviced by Rado and while the customer service was lacking the cost was very reasonable (I am comparing the experience to Rolex). With all that said I would not pay retail for them. Figure out what you like and look around on the web for cheaper than retail prices.

Thanks Justin.

I was looking at a Rado ceramic automatic with date for the Mrs.

The high street retailer is offering me 20% discount on list price. Effectively without VAT here in the UK. Is this a good deal? Watch list price is £820.

I have also seen on the web that Rado does not honor warranty on watches bought online. Is this true?

I am keen to understand how well their automatic movements hold up against similar brands longines, oris, swatch etc.

Both my wife's are quartz movements as automatics are a pain to set if they are not worn everyday. I learned that the hardway as she has a Rolex she rarely wore until I bought a winder.

You are correct about the warranty. Unless the retailer is an authorized dealer the warranty will not be honored. This was a risk I was willing to take on both hers as the discounts were very steep online. Check overstock.com and smart bargains.com as they both carry Rado. Not sure about the model your looking at but the price does not sound high. I would shop the web to compare prices on your model and weigh the savings vs value of the warranty to you.

only you can say if they are worth your money?

for me, i lean towards rolex first as they keep their value better than most.
