Used or New

Which would you choose under the following conditions considering it is a WG Daytona chronometer:

Used: 39% off MSRP; from a private seller with 9 months left on warranty; watch was sent to Rolex for repairs because the chronometer stopped working; in mint condition (just came back from service center repairs...); local seller so can meet in person at a bank, and have seen videos of the watch functioning normally on YouTube.

New: 28% off MSRP; from a dealer with full manufacturer warranty; brand spanking new; watch will be shipped.

The difference between the two comes out to a little over $4000. Both watches come with all of the original items (box, tags, etc.).

No contest. If you can find an AD to give you 28% off anything, take it and run.

Your talking about buying a platinum Daytona then 4gs shouldn't be an issue.

Yeah, but it is always something I will keep when I buy it. Then it becomes something I will flip when something else seems overwhelmingly more enticing!

Not a big enough difference to go used. New for sure.

11% isn't a good reason? I kind of disagree.
That's 3-5k on a gold watch, enough for another used model

Maybe I'm just frugal haha

28% off from an AD is a great offer so I'd take it over a pre-owned one.

New is taking quite the lead! Used is falling by the wayside.

Wow, nearly 2 to 1 in favor of New. Not everyone is posting their reasoning though. I would appreciate the input....

If it's just a $4k difference on a WG Daytona, then I'd go with new since, well, it's new. Even though the used one has been repaired, I just wouldn't feel comfortable - you never know if something else could be wrong that RSC missed.

Depends

If the condition of the "used" one is LNIB and never polished, I'd go with this one and use the $4100 to get me another Rollie

Otherwise ....

Is there sales tax involved if you take the AD route?
