Daytona owners, chrono function

Do you leave the stop watch running all the time or the other chrono hands?

Apart from a very small drop in the power reserve and the way the Rolex movement is made there would not be extra wear to keep it running.But myself cannot see the point in having it run 24/7 if not using the chrono function to time something you will still have the sub seconds running.

Mine is always stopped. Why keep the chrono function going when it's not being used?

I can't see the damn chrono hand anymore so I don't care.

I turn it on once in a while.....figuring: if you don't use it you loose it

I only use it when I need it. But sometimes I let it run just to get the gears moving and lubricated. this is about once a month and for about 4 hours or so.

I only use the stopwatch function when I need it.

Otherwise the watch already has a moving second hand.

I'm wearing mine right now.. I don't see any point in running a stopwatch function when you're not timing anything.. extra wear for nothing..

I run it about once a month to ensure its working fine.

On another note, I have a little OCD and rather not look at the subdials at 3 + 9 not pointing upward. Reminds me of somebody with googly eyes!

I think it's crass to allow a chronograph to run it's stopwatch function all the time.

Anyway, I've always found it amusing when people ask me if my watch is broken when they don't see the second-hand running.

I don't have a Daytona, by the way.

I keep it zeroed out so I don't have to think when I decide to time something. It's always ready to go. But I hadn't considered letting it run every month or so just to keep the lube distributed. I think I'll do that from now on. The night before I decide to wear a different watch the next day, I'll engage it.

Not to be a jerk, but this exact question was asked and answered at least once in the last 2 months.

if you like it keep it going, your choice, it may cost you a few extra bucks every 5-6 years at service time due to extra part wear on the chrono components, but who cares if you like it run it

Stopped for everyday use. Only in use for anything that needs to be timed.
