Sub LV's

Hello all-

Why is the price for previously owned Subs with a green dial/green bezel around 2k more than the 50th anniversary sub with green bezel/black dial?

It seem like Rolex rarely has anniversary models. I can't help but laugh when I see Breitling is releasing limited editions on nearly every model.

Thanks

The green Sub 16610LV was the 50th anniversary edition. Some even say only the first year was the true anniversary. The 116610LV with the green gold dial isn't really an anniversary edition. The msrp on the two are reflected in their aftermarket prices. The green dial being more expensive obviously.

The original 50th anniversary edition wasn't limited by any means and could be had if someone really wanted it. The only limited edition that comes to mind is the green ToG for the Japanese market.

Thus more expensive. In my opinion the extra's are worth the difference.

Agree, the new ceramics are a much better built and finished watch so justifies the higher price.

The price bubble may burst on some models when informed buyers realize that they are not limited.

should see the prices of red bezel edition ones

saw one with box and papers, had inner rolexrolexrolex bezel (which makes me iffy if it's all factory or not) but apparently it is.
sold for 15-16k

I personally saw one sell for 9k at a local store,

On eBay you can find red bezels "made for Submariner" for sale.

That's the only way a true Rolex gets one

And will add the dial is not solid gold on the 116610LV its just a aluminum disc coated in gold powder. Its a very similar to a PVD coating much like the precious metal number coating on the ceramic inserts. And thats just a Internet myth all 16610 LVs are simply that, a sub made to celebrate 50 years of the Rolex sub.And in the real world its just a plain 16610 sub with a maxi dial, slightly wider hands and a green insert, there are no markings on the watch case only serial and ref 16610.

True, but the serial number on the Sub-LV cases are matched to Rolex paperwork that has "LV" on it. So, we know which ones are "real" anniversary models, and which ones are regular 16610s, even without the maxi dial/hands and green insert.

Not in all countries some only have the LV on the green bar code plastic tag,of course the serial is logged with Rolex as a LV .
