In the market again, but question/s
Hello all,
As I am awaiting the results of my MRI (see "Is there a neurologist in the house" in general posts) I have a new passion, come what may, to buy a new Rolex. I am a pilot, so I naturally lean towards the GMT-II Ceramic, but I also scuba, so the Subbie date is always near and dear to my heart. I have owned many of both over the years, But in the real world, which do you think will appreciate the best? a Ceramic Subbe Date, or a GMT-!!? I am strongly leaning towards towards the GMT, as it has the 24 H hand. But don't know which to pick. What do you think? I am an unashamed flipper, always have been. The only thing I DON'T like about the new GMT is the polished center links, I hate looking at scratches. But it is more useful. I am torn. Also torn waiting to find out if I am physically okay. God only know for sure. I hope so. Hope all is well with you all. David : ) |

I like the same things about each. I am not a pilot, but do time zone hop. I dislike the same about the GMT, but am really concerned about the resale of a GMt if I do want to sell it. I am not a serial flipper, but always like to have an escape plan in case I ever get the courage to pull the trigger on my grail. (a YG sub with blue face and bezel)

Hey David
Sorry to hear about your waiting for MRI results. I know what that's like, good luck. Since you are a flyer, there's no question in my mind, just get the GMT. Aviation use GMT time everywhere and you have two other time zones of your choice as well. Unless you dive below 300M your Ok with scuba. |

Hey David, sorry to hear about the neuro issue that ya have but I hope ya be fine!! As for choices, I'm a recreational diver but come to choice of watch, I would think a GMT II is a better choice!
Hope all will turn out well and fine for ya! |

First, Good luck with your results.
I say go with the GMT even though I don't think I could live with the polished center links. It's more useful if you're flying between timezones a lot. From what I understand, unless you're diving down below 300 feet then you should be just fine with the GMT for your diving needs. Besides if you're really diving that much, I'd imagine you probably have a dive computer anyway. I have a few friends with GMTs and on their wrists you do not notice any scratches or marks, only if you take it off and actually inspect the watch. I miss Sandy Springs, beautiful city. |

Good luck with your results David.
Follow your heart and go for the GMT, you could easily brush the centre links whenever you want.

Either get the GMT and have center links brushed or look at a new explorer II.
Probl solved.

I hope your results are good David.
GMT seems a more logical choice so buy it and enjoy using it. |

I hope things turn out ok with your health.
The Sub is my favorite. GMT really suits your profession but buy what you like best. |

What about a Milgauss?
Yesterday I visited my AD and looked at Sub C no-date, ExpI and green Milgauss side by side. From all of these Milgauss appeared to me the best looking one.

Both are great, but would swing toward the Sub due to PCL a ratchets (annoying on my Daytona).
More importantly, just hope all is well with you mate - best of health to you! |
