How do you just buy one?

Hello,

I am a new Rolex owner, SubC. I thought I was going to be content with it, and I am, I totally dig the watch, and like its discreetness. Most people have no clue that its a Rolex unless there is another wearer around. Actually, today in a restaurant, my waiter had on a lovely DJ, we chatted for a few seconds on the quality. My question is, I REALLY want a GMT fat lady, however, I dont NEED a GMT anything. What has stopped you from making that purchase, or do you just say "screw it" and get it, knowing that your mind will not rest until? Also, does it stop there, or do you feel you need another, and another, or are two enough to satiate that hunger.

I am in the same situation with my subc. I am already planning my collection. I think it is inevitable due to the awesome collections on this site.

There's no going back - you need to keep feeding that monster inside. Else it gets all bottled up and you go nuts constantly thinking, obsessing and dreaming about it.

Seemingly, it never stops! And hanging around this bunch certainly doesn't help!

The never ending allure of procuring more Rolex is tempered by the inconvenience of requiring funds to satisfy my need for food, clothing and shelter.

If you stop hanging out around here, then you might have a chance to be content with just one. If not continue at your own risk.

Poverty? Thrift?

Certainly I want more Rolexes, but they are priced above my "impulse buy" comfort level.

Also I must add that something very important to me is self made patina. I love having a watch for years and years, sharing memories along the way.

It is a very slippery and expensive slope when you buy your first Rolex. Sit back and enjoy the ride my friend. Lol

OMG, it does not stop. I don't think there is such a thing as too many. And the two that I have flipped I wish I had them back. Don't flip any more just add to the collection.

I'm actually happy to keep my Rolex collection to one, although the same can't be said for my watch collection...

In your particular case the solution would have been to go for a GMT II C to begin with, I find it a lot easier to talk myself out of buying a Sub on the grounds that it is too similar to my GMT than the other way around, but even with that said, the call is strong and I have about decides to go for a third Rolex (bought one for my girlfriend in the meantime).

After all, when you get over the GMT, either by purchasing it or with considerable discipline, there'll always be the Daytona, the Explorer II, the Milgauss, an almost infinite range of Datejusts... You know the list and you will eventually end up wanting the one you don't have yet... No matter how many already sit in your watch box.

The best way to prevent that from happening is to be strict with yourself from the very beginning on... No, don't look at me, I'm down the road too far already.

Good luck trying to not collect. I thought I would be happy with 3 that I had but 12 rolex watches later I now have the itch for a few more maybe 4. It's an addiction.

Teehee, this guy just wants one watch...

......

......I want to be like you!

In my opinion you don't always need all those fancy complications but they sure are nice. If you like the watch and want it then I'd say buy it and be happy! There's no problem into collecting watches as long as you can afford it!
