Rolex in St. Petersburg Russia

The wife and I are planning a trip (nothing definite yet) to St. Petersburg Russia next year. Have any of you been there and if so, did you do any Rolex shopping? I've learned the Grand Hotel Europe has a store that offers Rolex and other high end brands. Also, any experience/advice if I were to buy one? Chances are 99% that I will be only looking and not buying. Somehow, being a child of the 50's, I would expect a difficult and/or expensive experience with Russian customs and likely the same with US customs.

Im pretty sure they will be crazy expensive out there. I don't spend much time in Russia, but when i'm in Brasil and have a little time to browse the stores I love checking with the guys how much the watch i'm wearing would cost - usually at least double UK high-street price!

I've been to St. Pete twice and loved it. I liked it much better than Moscow, which to me is just a big city.

I didn't shop for Rolex's or anything else expensive, but I did see a ton of very high end cars which surprised me quite frankly, so I bet watches will be available.

Sounds like it will be interesting to just check out what's available and compare prices to US. Very doubtful that I will be buying anything.....not my intent anyway.

To be honest, in such a beautiful city with so much culture and history why waste time looking/shopping for watches??

Thank you! I might take you up on your offer....looks like a beautiful city from what I see on the internet. As for Rolex, sounds like they are very expensive so it will be interesting to compare to US. I did the same in Dublin earlier this year.....just looked. Prices were in euros so I had to do quick calculations and as I recall, they were a little higher.

I stand corrected. It was my silver wedding anniversary, so I may have had other things on my mind. A beautiful city though.
