Something's amiss.
How it should work is pull out 1 click and hour hand only moves. Pull out 2 clicks and 24-hr + hour + minutes should move. Like this (starting at 2:25): http://youtu.be/W5YcVNJLQ2s?t=2m25s

Sorry to see that - but since your date wheel is working you could prolly still set and use it this way, right?
Does it run normally?

Something is definitely up... Is it still under warranty?

I'm guessing the main train is ok as the second hand is typically driven directly off one of the gears of the train, while the minute and hour hands are indirectly driven off another wheel. I can't recall if the 3186 has a cannon pinion designed to slip when you set the watch. This drives the minute hand. The hour hand is connected via a set of gears to the minute hand. Since you're able to set the hands, I think the most likely problem is that the cannon pinion is just loose. Not a big deal but requires sending it in for service.

Had the exact same problem with my two year old gmt C. It's an easy fix for your local AD.

No warranty, the hour hand just stays still. So no, I can't use it
EDIT: Just checked the warrant, it's good until April 2013. So it's all covered !!

i cant see your video. but my gmt2c is also broken. my hour hand moved slowly or didnt move at all. and when you try to set the hour hand it was very loose.
and RSC Manila still say that they havent received the parts. so i still dont have it. at least they had the courtesy to not charge me. |
