Buying a Rolex from Diamond district NYC

Is it safe to get a rolex from the Diamond District in nyc? i can get a day date II yellow gold for about 25k new allegedly versus going to Tourneau and paying about 38k plus tax for the same watch. Any one know any reputable shops in that area?

Hello, have you tried researching sellers here? Some are better than AD. I recently purchased a DDII YG from a trusted seller. Watch is awesoke, under warranty with all boxes, papers etc. Price is lower than anywhere else.

Definitely check out the for sale section here. I'm sure one of the trusted sellers will have what you want. If not I'm sure that they can get it.

I felt the same way as you so I can relate. However, I researched properly and found someone that had an impeccable reputation. Transaction went smoothly and less than 24 hours after sending funds I had a brand new DDII in my wrist. He was also in Florida so I could have driven but I knew I was dealing with someone very legit once I started emailing with him. From now on, I am ONLY buying from him. Note that I have people here in MIA that can get me the pieces. Regardless I rather go through this forum's sellers and still save a couple extra thousand. AD stands for Authorized Dealer. Good luck!

DavidSW is his screenname, his email is [email protected]. He is usually online in the forums. Do your homework so you feel at ease. Google his name, search in this forum, talk to him if you find it necessary. The more you research the better you will feel during those gruesome 24hours while you wait for your piece to arrive!!! At the end it will all be worth it. It was for me!

The diamond district in NY???? "Such a deal......."

Stay clear and buy from an AD or one of the trusted sellers here. DAVIDSW has an excellent reputation for fair dealing and very fair prices.

What experiences do you have with the diamond district? People like to think they know something when they actually have no idea.

OP - Buy where you get the best deal. DavidSW is very reputable and I can vouch for him since I bought my Daytona from him. I also purchased two Panerai from the diamond district without issue as well because nobody could beat the prices on the two I bought... Both came with papers and had no issues with warranty repair on the one that had to be repaired.

Elements In Time (on the south side of 47th) has a pretty good selection of watches. I havent bought a watch from them but I have a couple friends that have without any issues.

You can get it authenticated by Rolex on 5th if you want. If the watch is brand new, without any aftermarket bezel or dial, I would feel confident you have an authentic watch inside and out. The diamond district doesnt sell fakes and they have their own community that wouldnt allow it but they do have some dealers that put aftermarket bezels and dials or sell vintage watches without any history - those are the watches I would steer clear of.

Another positive from the dealers on this site is they always are willing to do a face to face or meet you at an AD if you wish.

I also second the recommendation of DavidSW, and caution one who is considering the purchase of a Rolex in the Diamond District (I grew up in the diamond/jewelry business), unless you, or whoever might refer you, has a personal relationship with whom you will be dealing with, and knows Rolex, as well.

Best of luck with your soon to be new acquisition!

I might buy if it was called the Rolex district.

Diamond district? No.

I would agree to find a reputable seller on the board, from my experience there are some good reputable sellers in the diamond district but you also have to be very careful, I've seen numerous occasions where they claim watches 'new in box' or 'new old stock' and the watches have been carefully polished to represent new but are preowned.

Buy the seller, in the long run you will be better off, even if you pay a bit more.

good luck on your hunt!

For that kind of money you can fly to Vegas and find a number of reputable Rolex dealers and negotiate the price and probably save money.

talking from experience , steer clear of the diamond district . I recently had a nightmare experience with them . Purchase right here on TRF . It'll save you the headache .

DavidSW is great. He got me a new in box TT sub c with stickers still on for a lot less than I could find in the diamond district. I am on 47th street at least twice a month

Have you purchased any references in Aruba? When I was in Aruba their only pitch was, no sales tax so you save buying here vs. in the states.

I have been to the diamond district many times in NYC. I would say that their watches are legit, but I would never buy a Rolex there. Do your research and definitely give some of the trusted sellers here a call. David SW is definitely a trust worthy seller and a true gentleman.
