45K buys???

I am thinking about picking up a Platinum Day Date 2 with Ice Blue Dial with roman numerals and concentric circles.

My current collection is as follows:
- PP Nautilus Chrono
- AP 40th Anniversary RO "JUMBO"
- Rolex YG GMT IIc
- AP RG ROO Rubberclad
- Rolex Sea Dweller
- AP ROO "Panda"
- Omega Seamaster Professional
- IWC SS Regulateur
- Rolex TT Date just

Three questions:

(1) If you were me would you sell the Panda to partially fund this acquisition?
(2) If not the Panda, any other you would sell to fund the acquisition?
(3) If you had 45k budget, what other watches would you consider given my existing collection?

Thanks for the input.

I'd get rid off

The IWC, TT Datejust and the Rubberclad. But, hey, that's me. Good luck on your choice. The platinum DD2 would be an awesome watch.

I would not sell the Panda for the Rolex.

I would sell the TT Datejust as I hate anything two-toned.

If I had a budget and wanted to add to THAT impressive collection, I would go (starting from top to bottom):

1. Breguet La Tradition (white/yellow/rose gold).

2. Richard Mille Rafael Nadal

3. IWC perpetual

Thanks for the input thus far...the Rolex TT DJ was handed down to me as it was my fathers so lets just its probably the one untouchable of the collection.

I don't think the RM35 fits into the 45k budget...

Hmm maybe I'm mistaken about the price then on that RM. My friend was selling one at around that price if I wasn't mistaken - but maybe it was a preowned one.

Go Platinum ...

I picked up a DD I (118206) last year and LOVE it. The DD II was a little(LOT) big for my wrist. The feel and luster of this metal is unbelievable. If you don't mind a heavy watch you will LOVE it.

I would do it. The Rolex your looking at is fantastic, and you have some amazing APs left after the trade. Great collection by the way.

Great watch but prefer it with the fluted bezel.

I would sell these...
Your collection is very high-end, these sort of "normal".

- Omega Seamaster Professional
- IWC SS Regulateur
- Rolex TT Date just

To address the other questions asked; I would have no qualms in selling any of the existing collection, other than the YG GMT and Naut chrono

With that budget, I'd have a look at A. Lange & Sohne and Vacheron Constantin.

Here is a photo of the current collection.

As I mentioned, the Rolex TT DJ is not up for sale. The proceeds from selling the Omega or IWC will barely make a dent in the cost of the DD2.

The key question is whether to sell the panda to get the DD2 now or keep the panda and delay the purchase of the DD2

Personally.....and this is totally my opinion.......
The APs stick out like sore thumbs in the collection. Thats not to say you cant have variety or a diverse collection, but they fall along a very different thread of design than the rest. So.....it seems to me that the DD would probably fit you and your collection much better than the Panda. Also, the fact that you even asked leads me to believe there is an inclination on your part to unload the Panda anyway......soooo, in a huge nutshell, sell the Panda for the DD.

Beautiful collection!
Selling the Panda would leave you without a SS Offshore. Depends on if you're ok with that. How much wrist time does it get?

Not true, he still has the SS Rubber Clad plus a SS RO so I would sell the Panda and get the Plat DD if that sings more to you.

Great collection.

Love the collection, but as others have also mentioned it seems the Panda might not be one of your top choices. Sell it and get the DD it's a stunning watch.

Very nice collection.

Can anyone inform me of the RRP for the platinum DDII ?

45000 dollars is 28000 pounds and there is a platinum DDII for a grey dealer with a good reputation here in the UK. It is BNIB dated december 2012 and is marked at £31,000.

Are you buying from an AD ? Have you contacted trusted sellers on here about how much they want for a BNIB platinum DDII.

I don't really think you are too far away from being able to afford the DDII without trading anything.

For the money we are talking about and bearing in mind you probably want something in a similar light to the DDII, I don't see many other good options. I'd recommend a dressy Patek like the 5205G but I'm assuming you don't want that.

Do you like the Royal Oak jumbo ? The 15400 also comes in rose gold and it is a very nice piece which you should look at.

I would sell the Panda mainly because with the RG AP you have, I don't see it getting much wrist time. I would also sell the Omega. Not a fan.

I might be stupid here, but with my watch collection I try to make sure the colors are unique so that I actually wear them. In other words, I don't want 10 black watches because then they don't really compliment anything any differently from a color point of view.

With that being said, I love the DDII especially in the blue dial, but man you've got a lot of blue in your collection already. What's going to make you take off the AP, PP, Omega, or even the Iwc with the blued hands and put on the DDII other than just switching it up. Whereas the Panda fills a unique void in your collection from an aesthetics and color perspective. Yes the ROO's are kind of duplicates, but the colors on them are so different. The only way I'd part with the panda would be to buy a WG Daytona Panda. To me that look is classic and I wouldn't want to sacrifice that.

I would sell the Panda and the IWC, keep the Seamaster, you're only going to get about £1,500 - £2,000 I don't sell the point in selling it..

And get your hands on that stunning DDII..

You have a stunning collection btw!!
