SubC TT v GMTC TT

Im looking at buying a TT Rolex and was initially thinking of the GMTc TT as its a pilots watch and better lends itself to gold than a diver, but after trying on this and the black Subc TT I am now torn as they both look great. So which would you choose, putting function aside as I wont use either watch's functions very often, and which watch just simply appeals to you more.

I'm a bigger GMT fan but between these I'd pick the Sub TT. The pearl adds an extra little bling to it and the more black color on the bezel helps to better anchor the steel and gold tones. In all gold or steel, I'd have voted GMT.

I owned a black tt subc and traded it for the tt gmtc. Before the ceramic models came out the sub would have won. But the gmtc wins hands down for ne. Awesome looking watch!!!

The GMTIIC does lend itself better to two tone. That said, the green hand and writing seem to get lost and the overall look of the watch is confused for me. I prefer the GMTIIC in SS or pure 18K.

My father owns the black dial Submariner in two tone and it looks really sharp in person. It gets my vote by a narrow margin.

Thats interesting Mike and I do agree with you about GMT for full gold tho for me Subc for ss, but its this TT that is really making me think, but happily no wrong answer here tho.

Can I ask why you traded them and what looks better to you on the GMTC, I presume the larger bezel numbers on the C?

Im a sub guy too which is why altho the GMTC might make more sense in TT, Im still really drawn to the Subc TT.

No wrong answer as said, but in TT SubC i would prefer the Blue,in black i would pick the GMTc.

Cheers guys, and I do like the Bluesy TT more than the old black TT but for the ceramics the flat blue dial is not so appealing to me so has to be black for me.

I would go for the Sub C TT, I think it has a cleaner / simple look and you mentioned you wouldn't really be using the GMT function... Plus with the Sub you get the guidelock clasp for easy size adjustments.

Not sure i can put my finger on it. I definitely think the green hand makes it pop! Also the large numbers. Now in the ss watch im sub all the way!!

I ended up going against the poll results and chose the TT SubC. I don't regret the decision at all. (1) The SubC's glidelock clasp is fantastic. My watch always fits perfectly despite temperature changes, with but a quick adjustment. (2) I prefer a toned-down SS watch for my travels, rather than a TT. I have a SS JLC GMT for that purpose. (3) IMO, the Sub just looks better. It is an icon for a reason, right? But really, both are great and you can't go wrong with either.

but im leaning GMT --the dual time function is the deciding factor

The extra time zone seems like a hassle unless you travel. Also the triple lock crown seems like a better design too. I vote sub.

The gold colour of the numbers on the GMT bezel looks a little flat compared to the Sub... Might be the GMT is a real life shot & Sub is a computer graphic image???

It's a tough choice, and I don't think you can go wrong with either. However, I'd pick the Sub. I think the design is slightly more classic and simple (in a good way) and if you are not going to use the GMT function I don't think it's worth having the extra hand. If you don't wear it every day and don't keep it on a winder, I find Rolex watches with the GMT hand to be slightly annoying to set. Not a big deal at all, but worth mentioning.
