I found this, by accident, quite some time ago. It's a great tip, and, it makes me wonder now many other slick tips are out there that we just don't know. I have been an iPhone user since the 4 and an iPad user since the original came out. I think I'm pretty good at using both but I'm certain there is more to learn.

Here's my tip: To insert or delete a letter in the middle of a word press and hold your finger to the screen until you get a "highlight circle". Now just drag that circle, with the cursor in it, to wherever you want to begin your edit. I'm sure many are already aware of this but maybe there are those that aren't.
