First watch for my 3-year-old son?

I need some advice.

I remember my first watch from when I was a young boy. It was red-white-blue and had numbers for both hours and minutes, so I could learn time. (not sure what brand, manual wind, maybe Timex?)

My son is very interested in learning time and in watches (wonder why) and we want Santa to bring him his frist watch (analog of course!), but I am having trouble finding the right one.

There's this one, but it doesn't have graduations for minutes:
http://www.amazon.com/Timex-Analog-F.../dp/B0009Q7M2Y

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! And no Rolex for him unitl he graduates from college!

Why not something cute like a Flik Flak by Swatch? Do they still make those?

I gave my daughter a Dora the Explorer watch when she was in pre-school. She didn't care for it. Never put it on, always wanted to take it off because it felt funny. And she loved Dora a lot! Fast forward to 1st grade. Her school teacher taught the class how to tell time. Well, my daughter thought telling time was amazing and constantly grabbed my wrist to practice her "time."

We got her a Timex. Now in the second grade, her Timex is a part of her wrist; always wearing it.

We're going through the same thing with our son who is now kindergarten.

It's great to share WIS interest early, but don't be discouraged if, at three, your kid's not as into it as you are.

That Timex is very nice.Perfect choice for a first watch. My first watch was a digital Casio.I was 5-6 years old and I didn`t like it very much, mostly because it wasn`t look like "real" (analog) watches. But I liked to play with stopwatch!

My first watch was a Timex (wind up) and it showed each minute along the very edge much as you described. I think that both watches you've shown are good. I like that the second one shows the 15, 30, 45 minutes but the band doesn't look as comfortable on the tiny wrist of a 3 year old.
The first one might be the better choice.
