Daytona call!-long post
I mentioned on here that just about a month ago I had kidded with my AD about just wanting to see a SS Daytona if he ever got one in. The next time I talked to him we discussed how hard they were to come by, etc and he said "would you be interested in one"? I said absolutely and mentioned that I would be gone for 5-6 weeks after the first of the year and that for him to call me in Fla. He intimated that they might get one yet this year but nothing definite. The more I thought about it and read about all the new acquisitions here, the hungrier I got. I wanted to call every few days but was afraid to p*** him off. So last Saturday I'm in a Lowes about 20 miles from home looking at plumbing supplies. It got the better of me so I called on the pretext of checking to see if I'd given him all the necessary contact info. I no sooner than hung up and my phone rang. He said "I have something here you might be interested in". I said what's that? He said "well, it has a white dial". According to him, the owner was unpacking the watch as I was on the phone the first time. It hadn't been in the store an hour! He said "do you want it and I said absolutely! He said he would hold it for me. We were expecting a blizzard that day and he was about 60 miles away. Any other day I would have been driving my 4-wheel drive pickup but since I wasn't planning to be gone long, I'm driving a car with racing tires about 2K from needing replaced! Needless to say, I was so worried that someone else might beat me to it, I took my and my wife's lives in my hands and headed out. An hour later I'm wishing I'd stayed home. Ice, snow and all the crap we so love here! Long story short, I grabbed the watch and headed home sliding all over the place! Luckly made it home and spent a happy hour removing plastic from the new addition. Sorry about the pics', still working on my photo skills.
