So we've had our discussions about Bourbon and Scotch, how about some love for the other Keltic clan. With St. Patrics day coming up I thought I'd share what I'll be induging in the next few weeks as I gear up for the 17th.

Interesting, haven't really tried any other than Jamieson!! Looking into the Bush mills (Black bush) specifically! Any recommendations?

I haven't tried the premium Bushmills yet but I am dying to try it, my favorite is Middleton, it's just really really smooth, maybe too smooth but it tastes great. The redbreast was recommended to me and it's good but I find it a bit too sweet. Powers is my go to late night sipping whiskey, it's inexpensive and balanced. Kilbbegan is similar. The Potcheen is Irish gasoline, it's like 180 proof.

Nice selection. Meeting a group of friends tomorrow for a late and long brunch as we finalize our St Pats plans. We all live in Southie, so leaning towards another progressive party (drinks/food each house). It was a blast last year!

For a hot whiskey, Powers is the only way, it has a lovely oily texture. Straight up, it has to be Black Bush with Midleton a very close second.

I've only had the usual suspects, jameson concannon tullamore etc...

but now I know what to look for next time.

My absolute fav is Middleton, there is nothing else like it in the world IMHO, close second is the Black Bush. I also like any of their single malts. Great stuff!!!

Keeping the thread going.
After a few pints of Guinness and a beautiful rack of lamb, we moved onto the whiskey.

Have to agree with you so far on this trip, Midleton is by far the best whiskey I have tasted.

Well Marc having loitered for a year on the Emerald Isle a lifetime ago I'm always willing to lift the Irish. Walking distance was a pub called Durty Nelly’s. Exactly 976 steps (not like I was counting). Shortly after quaffing my first 8 or 10 pints of the "good for you" stout the quest was on for an accompanying nectar of the Irish gods. The results below are still with me today (albeit not the original bottles I started with). Push comes to shove I'm leaning on the black. Always supported by a Guinness as depicted here.
