Zenith El Primero 36000 VPH
A little report on a chrono I bought these days...
Zenith El Primero 36000 VPH It is basically a classic El Primero watch with the movement designed back in 1969. Facts: - 42mm width - only 12mm height - 5 Hz, 36000 VPH - no stopping of the second hand (I don't care) - sapphire glas back - column wheel chronograph with horizontal clutch - 55h power reserve - weight with alligator leather band: 88g Had a Daytona, didn't get warm with it, dropped it and basically got a Titanium Omega Speedmaster and this Zenith for the value. Works for me! Pictures:

That is an absolute beauty.
Very, very nice. Only downside for moi is the lack of fully marked sub-dials.

Partly true.
I had a hard time ordering this watch with the alligator leather strap and folding clasp. Or a rubber strap and folding clasp. Nothing of that sort happened, only way to get it was with pin clasp and alligator leather - which is the standard. But now I can visit an AD, look at two different types of rubber bands from the Zenith catalogue. One of which is the type used on the Stratos Flyback and the other one I believe is the classic version, which can be seen on older El Primeros if you GooglePic it. Both to be delivered with a stainless folding clasp. Price tag for this upgrade would be around $600, which is still in a usual range but not as sporty (not to say cheap) as the watches still are!

Do they make this in a non-chrono version? I really like the lines.

I'm late to post, but were you talking about the Pilot Big date Special? Need a bracelet watch and very much like mesh bracelets... I'm new to Zenith (I do know there's history to it, which I appreciate) and been reading El Primero is the way to go in Zenith... don't about the 4010 though...

I love Zenith El Primero, I have Captain Series with power reserve. Sometimes I say wish I had bought one of these chronograph movements

Very nice indeed. Love this watch. My latest purchase was between this and the Rolex 116234, but ended going for the Rolex because I was looking for something smaller in size. But this is definitely still on the want-to-buy list!
Congrats!
