Hi guys,

I have a 116520 Daytona, which I like. However, I still cant get over the RO, which was on my shortlist when buying the Daytona.

I finally decided to go for the Daytona based on rugged design, good value and the overall look of it (and of course the icon status...)

They are about the same price in the pre-loved market (Im thinking about the 116520 vs. AP 15300) so an even trade would be possible I guess

One of the reasons not chosing the AP was the high service cost and the more delicate feel of it (e.g. lower WR and more easily scratched) - but is this true or nothing to worry about?

To conlude my long rant - would you trade a Daytona for a Royal Oak?

(I guess I will get subjective answers here...)

I wouldn't, but then again, AP doesn't do much for me.

Do you LOVE the Daytona? Would you miss it? If not, get the one that you will enjoy more.

I traded 15300 for daytona with NO regrets. I even paid something extra.

My colleague owns an APRO Chronograph and I have spent a good deal of time with that watch. Its build quality is clearly, and obviously, higher than any Omega/Rolex/IWC in my collection. With that said, the watch appears to be a scratch magnet. Also, the thing that makes the watch so lovely (complex surface textures and sharp edges) makes it extremely difficult to polish. I think even a marginally bad polish would ruin the charm of this watch and that would always nag at me.

IMO I would stick with the Daytona and it's easy to swap replaceable bezel, but make no mistake that the AP is a superb watch.

AP is the "IT" watch, Daytona used to be the "IT" watch, can't go wrong with either one. I've owned a Daytona, wasn't practical enough for me. I prefer the AP currently. JMHO

I previously had the white dial daytona but now have the white dial 15400...

Although I liked the daytona, the AP is on another level..

Anyway, I can see people going one way or the other on this one. They're both fabulous watches in their own right. The APs finish is in a different league than the Daytona, but I surely love the way the Daytona looks and wears as well.

The bottom line is which one you think works best for you. It really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Choose the one that works best for you.

Not a fan of the modern Daytona even less a fan of the RO range just do not like the style of watch so for me keep the Daytona.

Never. The AP doesn´t do anything for me. It´s just another fashion watch with lousy WR and ludacris service prices.

I rather go with an Aquanaut. Keep the Daytona!

As an owner of both brands, I will keep my daytona and buy AP. But if you have to pick one I will trade it for sure.

Nope, I would not trade the Daytona....I have on myself and have tried on the AP....great quality but definitely not worth the trade....Daytona is just a gorgeous watch in any form....SS, TT, or all gold....and it wears well.

It's no more/less a fashion watch than modern Rolexes.

If you're getting a little money back, I'd do the trade otherwise keep the Daytona depending on condition. Used APs can be had in the low $9s but you may have to factor in a service and polish.

My 15300 has shown less wear than my Daytona and both were worn about the same amount over two years.
