Looking to stain my redwood fence
We just had a fence installed with beautiful Grade A Clear Redwood. I've been doing some research and am leaning towards Penofin Rosewood Oil or Cabot's Timber Oil. Anyone here have experience with either of these products? Trying to decide if we should go with clear or semi-transparent. Post pics too if you have them.

I've always used Sikkens but if you stick with a high quality product most work very well. Don't forget the wash first with a wood cleaner and scrub brush. Mill glaze can mess up your staining. Uneven penetration causes blotchy appearance.

I always felt a clear water repellent with a mildewcide allows a slow natural weathering allowing color and grain show through...
But you can accelerate the process with Cabots Bleaching Oil: http://www.cabotstain.com/products/p...ching-Oil.html

I don't have a fence, but I do have a 20 year-old redwood patio table and benches. In my experience the mildew causes more damage than UV. Once we grew tired of the natural weathered look, I went to a solid color stain.

My fence is clear redwood, untreated and unstained. The wood is new from the lumber yard. Looking to darken it a little but not too much. Not every stain is available here in California. 2 that I know I can get are Cabot & Penofin. Leaning towards Penofin.
