F1 and Rolex will there be a F1 rolex watch

I was thinking on the weekend, scary i know seriously I recall that as the major sponsor of the premier motorsport category a few previous brands have made F1 models, Eg. Tag and Hublot. Do you think we may see a Rolex F1 ? Maybe a special F1 dial released a Basel ? thoughts

I hope not. I like how Rolex has kept it's model line strictly in house. Co-branding, I thnk, would make the company too mass market.

Since it would really need to be a Daytona, I'd say no. At least not this year. Anniversary Daytona? Maybe.

I do not think they will do a co-branded watch. However, they may introduce a Daytona with a specific dial/bezel colour combination to commemorate the F1 partnership, or something like that.

Nothing ever stays the same.......
It is not only possible but it is a given that Rolex will change the Daytona at some point in time.
However, as to the nature of the change and time that such change will occur, both are unknown.
Rolex's entry into F1 this year is a new phenomenon, and I would be surprised if Rolex was able to react quickly to have a F1 celebratory watch this year (Basel April) as the drivetrain wheels at Rolex do not tend to rotate that fast.
Anyway time will tell.

I don't think they will brand the dial or case with F1 in anyway.. But I did have a feeling they may make a Daytona with green "Daytona" font on the dial.. And associate that model with the sport in advertising etc..

Maybe I'm dreaming..

I would think that the daytona would be the prime target for anyking of a f1 branding or modification. I do follow f1 and watch all the races, this year so far there is only one f1 inspired rolex commercial that they play and only the daytona is in it.. Every other model is not seen or mentioned.. Hopefully something nice can come out of it!

Create a new watch for it.
It would sell well.

This question just depends whether you are into F1 or not.

If Rolex would tastefully redesign their chronograph and keep it under 42mm, I wouldn't much care what they call it.

I think that the Daytona needs a serious update that would make it look more like the tool watch that it should be.

I have not been much enamored with other watches that have borne the name F1, so an offering from Rolex might be a breath of fresh air.

Frankly, though, I'm not expecting this to be the case.

I think we are going to see a ceramic SS daytona.

I know for a fact that a 50th anniversary model will be released. My guess as far as style is all stainless, black dial with green subdials and black ceramic bezel.

Perhaps they'll make a Rolex Cosmograph with a date, and call it the Monaco instead of Daytona!

I agree. Maybe in SS?

Would not be surprised to see Rolex produce a TT with ceramic bezel based on the current configurations.

We will see shortly.

I think it unlikely as they have not cashed in before on their sponsorship of Tennis, Golf, Yachting or all the different types of Equestrian events they sponsor. Thankfully Rolex see themselves above tie ins to films, space missions and various 'notable' individuals.

F1

Although a 50th Daytona is more likely, let's keep in mind Daytona is a racetrack and the Rolex "Daytona" as we know it is a version of Rolex's original Cosmograph. 1963 was the launch of the Daytona. The original Cosmograph was released years earlier.

Who's to say a 2014 redesigned Cosmograph F1 won't succeed the Daytona.

^^ If they were going to go with an exotic dial variation I would rather see something a little less loud (white/black or black/white Newman for instance). However, I like the watch you posted about 10,000,000% more than the horrible Hublot (carbon brake rotor inspired watch - yuck).

However, if "F1" is at all incorporated in the design I wouldn't be a fan - and I do follow motorsports.
