Waiting for a Silver Bold Stick Dial
I have posted this thread earlier, but want to get some advice, I purchased a 18K President in Nov. 07 M SN. It has a Champaign dial with bold stick markers. I didn't know at the time gold on gold would be hard to read the time,so I took it to a local AD here in Tampa to see if I could get a different dial. They called RSC NY and was told yes, but I could only exchange my dial for a dial like the one that came on that watch. I decided on the Silver dial with the bold stick markers. This was Nov.22 ,I'm still waiting, the AD tells me Rolex has back ordered the dial and they have no idea when it will be in. Anyone have a similar experience? What can I do? Bill

Check the after market and/or call Joel and see if he can help.

I agree...the Champaign dial is hard to read because there isn't any contrast between the dial and hands.
Take a look at the pic below. [IMG][/IMG] When I bought mine, I had it shipped to RSC for a Light Champaign dial which is much easier to read... plenty of contrast between the dial and hands. Took almost 8 weeks to get it back though I never heard of a dial being back ordered. Might want to pick out another dial. Good Luck Here's a pic of the "Light" Champaign. |

Personally I would wait and get your AD to send the watch to the RSC to change the dial and hands when they get them. This is the only way you can be sure the work will be done properly and that the dial and hands will be genuine Rolex and new. Your watch is too valuable and new to entrust the work to anyone else. My guess is that this will be the most economical way of doing it too.

I agree, I would go through the AD and let the RSC take care of things. Too big of an investment to let anyone else make a mistake. Not to say that the RSC cant make a mistake, but they have deep enough pockets to fix things correctly, in case of error.

There is not much you can do but phone your AD frequently and ask when the dial's coming.
In the meantime, here's something nice to look at:

I called RSC NY today and am confused, the AD told me he had to send my Champaign Dial back to Rolex in order to exchange for the Silver Dial I want. After a full month he tells me Rolex has backordered the Silver dial. Now I get Rolex involved and they tell me they don't exchange dials until two years are up. Rolex customer service asked who I purchased the watch from, I told her a Gray Dealer in Miami, she said that was another problem. She also said that RSC would want to change the dial in NY and that they don't let the AD's do this on a newer watch like mine. She stated she would get back to me tomorrow after she talks with some other people. She tells me AvantGold should have explained all of this to me. I don't know where this is going , but I have only had my watch two total weeks since I purchased it and now ,Rolex may not let the AD do the change and I will have to send it to them and have another 4+ weeks,to wait. Bottom line is there never was a shortage of the silver dial just a AD who either 1.Didn't have balls to tell me the problem or 2.Didn't really give a shit. Bill

Shucks!
I feel your pain! I knew it couldn't be true that that silver dial is backordered!

At least the AD in Tampa has to remedy the situation. They have taken the task on and must give customer satisfaction.
The silver dial (as per Bo's picture) is absolutely the best dial for the watch IMO. Beautiful.

I ordered a champagne dial with luminova-filed stick markers in May last year from the Rolex Service Center (RSC) Tokyo. It arrived in September. Then, and not before, I gave the watch to RSC, and they switched the dials in less than a week. |

Why don't you go back to the dealer you bought it from? Shouldn't they do it? Or at least help you out?

"The rest of the story" I visited my AD today in regards to my Dial change on my M-SN Day/Date 18K President. Rolex had informed them they do not change dials on a new watch like mine, and they never let the AD do it before the watch is at least 2 years old. Due to the fact that this has been a screwed up mess they are going to make a ONE TIME EXCEPTION ,and the watch will have to be sent to RSC NY. It makes no sense to me but as long as it is done who cares!! Bill
