4 yr old submariner noise/vibration
I've reported this before on here but update:
My four year old Submariner makes a noise/vibration/humming when I shake it even gently it which is clearly the rotor. Wrote to Rolex and they said "It is normal to experience some oscillating rotor movement and noise whilst the watch is perpetually winding" and that they advise the watch is serviced every 5 - 7 years. So it would seem that it would be okay for at least another year. But I am concerned. If I shake the watch gently in the direction perpendicular to the face so the rotor doesn't rotate there is a slight rattle as if something IS loose in there, ? the rotor? Not right surely. The watch keeps near perfect time and the noise is not metallic or scrapping. If there is something wrong I'm very disappointed that it only lasted four years, particularly when you hear of people having theirs for twenty years without servicing, and it's supposed to be a very well made quality watch costing thousands of pounds. I don't know what to do and am slightly reluctant to pay £525 for a service after just four years. |

I had the same issue with my Submariner date that I purchased new in 2006 and wore it every day for 6 years, after 5 years I could hear it humming when I moved my wrist quickly, as with your watch the accuracy and precision was unaffected. I sent it in for servicing at the 6 year point and now it is ok. If it is still of concern to you, consider taking it to a Rolex AD and get advice from a Rolex approved watch maker.
