Rolex or Heuer?

Hi,

First of all, thanks to those of you who have helped me so far to find a special gift for my partners 50th birthday....thank you!

I've narrowed it down to two watches and I need your expert opinions to help me choose....the Rolex or Heuer?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Heue...71184747540%26

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLEX-OYSTER...item460ecf2de8

I would appreciate your views and comments on the watches above.

Many thanks for your time.

If I only go by the looks the Heuer chronograph has my vote and the description of the item only helps to confirm my choice. I personally wouldn't go with the Rolex as it looks like it has been over polished (I could be wrong but it does look like it to me) and I wouldn't like to have one with a custom dial (had it been a factory one I would have preferred it).

Of course, it would always depend on what you think your partner will prefer but I would go with the Heuer. Do keep in mind that at 34mm and 35mm those are midsize watches and although I personally think those sizes are amazing it might not be everybody's case. As well, you should make sure that he likes vintage watches and doesn't prefer newer ones.

If looking new, I'd say Rolex.

But since you're looking at vintage, of the two in the links, I'd go for the Heuer! Lovely looking watch!

I always prefer Rolex, but between those 2 I like the Tag way better.

Thread corrected as you don't have a Tag among your selection but a vintage Heuer. Between the 2 watches I also prefer the Heuer. However I would recommend doing a search and looking at some other references unless you are set on one of these. Happy hunting...Cheers,

Of the two, the Tag gets my vote. Not a fan of diamonds on my dial.

Good luck!

Heuer looks much nicer. And since you are in the UK and so is the Heuer. The Rolex is in Cali and you may get stung with import duty.

I'd want to know if the Heuer keep consistent good time.

A watch can be so subjective. If i were buying for another person, I would be really careful about buying them a watch to begin with, especially a preowned one.

I would talk to your partner first and see what your partner wants.

Heuer if I had to choose between those two. That being rather have a Rolex, just not the one pictured.

Given a choice between those, I would pick the vintage Heuer. It's a really great looking watch and I don't like diamonds on men's watches.

Heuer has my vote! I don't particularly care for the diamonds or the dial on the selected Rolex. Make sure you've checked your seller as there are many scams on eBay.

That Heuer is a beauty.. The Rolex is nice too but I simply do not care for champagne dials...

Heuer is the nicer choice. But ultimately you should ask your partner!

The Rolex has many issues especially the dial. The Heuer is more pleasing but did you note it is a manual wind model?

If that does not matter, the Heuer is the nicer one.

Given those two to choose from...I'd go with the Heuer.

Or...maybe get the Rolex and change out the dial. Diamonds are not for me.
