Chapter ring
Guys, no matter how many times I see it I hate the ROLEXROLEXROLEX chapter ring - so much cleaner without it.
So, am I in the minority? |

No, I don't think that you are. I like the CRB on certain Rolex watches. My Turn-O-Graph,
my YM, sure Rolex watches like a Daytona, LV Sub, TT Sub I don't think the CRB look good at all IMHO. |

The engraved rehaute is something that I think is here to stay. Some like it some don't. I guess given the choice I prefer the cleaner look.

I don't mind about the CRB. It is quite subtle.
But the principle is a bit silly. How many times does an owner need reminding that it is a Rolex he is wearing?? The CRB on its own says "Rolex" TEN times!

I don't like "Superlative" and "Officially Certified" plastered all over the dial...
But I guess I can live with the engraved rehaute....it's here to stay and not a glaring distraction...

It is much less noticable in person. I don't mind it at all after seeing it for myself. When I saw it first, it was in a photo on the Forum and I was glad I didn't get it. But I'm now of the opinion I wouldn't have minded it at all. JMO.

And the serial number is more readily available. Harder to counterfeit too I would think. But then, the counterfeiters seem awfully innovative.........

The fewer identifying marks the better..
However if Rolex needs to visibly complicate their manufacturing process in order to make it more difficult for the bastardization of the mark, then those of us who insist on authenticity benefit. Papers and visible numbers will assure authenticity, for awhile. Interesting that some new copies approximate the cost of a "vintage" Rolex. Cheers, Mrdi |

When I first learned of CRB, I felt it too "busy" looking in the pictures I had seen of it, and didn't like it.
After I had my GMT IIc a couple of days and realized as often as I looked at the watch to admire it, I had never actually seen the CRB I realized how subtle and unobtrusive it really is. Necessary - probably not; objectionable - probably not. |

I didn't like it when I first saw it, but it has since grown on me...

I liked it from the offset. And when I saw it on my GMT IIc in person it is rather subtle..

The thing is really the only person who can see it is the wearer. |

I like the CRB on certain watches. The Sea Dweller does not have it, and I think it is better without it. Tool watches are "cleaner" without it.

It was my preference to have on my watch. It is subtle, and makes it more difficult to counterfeit. Has anyone seen any knock-offs with the chapter ring branding?

The CBR will be an easy do for the counterfeiters. I haven't seen it yet but I'm sure I'll see it replicated on my next visit to the Day Market.

I don't even notice the CRB, unless you look very closely. If it deters some counterfeiters, I am all for it.

I personally like the CRB, it represents an authentic Rolex piece from here on out. To know the serial # is easily at the 6 mark would make a personal sale of the watch easy. Just take the watch to the AD they write the serial # from the 6 mark. Opposed to the AD having to remove the bracelet to expose the serial # to verify it is authentic is very time consuming.

Subtle though it may be, for me it's one of those things that, once noticed, I zero right in on it. Having the serial number available there is one thing, branding it ten times in a row is another. I doubt, from a manufacturing standpoint, this will present much of a challenge for counterfeiters. At the worst, it will drive the cost of replicas up a bit...

Pat, you're up early after staying up late! I have one watch with the new chapter ring and one without. I kind of like it. I have to look close to see it, especially on the small lady DJ dial. It's the big, glaring use of brand names that turns me off....
