Invicta?
How can this be so cheap? From $595 to $80?! Is this a legit watch?

Invicta watches have made a big splash in the marketplace in the last couple of years especially here in America. Remember as for a suggested retail price a company can put any price they want to on their products. Then when they have a sale...their sales prices look very good. Most of their watches are Quartz but they do have a few models which are automatics and have better ETA movements(and believe me those have higher prices).....
Take it easy.....Leo

Cheap watch, cheap price.
I would consider a real brand like inexpensive models from Seiko.

They have gone off the charts because they are on ShopNBC and they sometimes have six value pays. I have gotten a few, but, I feel their MSRP is way out of line. I also feel they are outpacing their quality control based on the last two autos I bought. jmho

I bought an Invicta 8926 some years back and it rekindled an interest in mechanical movement watches.
A rekindled interest in watches with mechanical movements reawakened an interest in Rolex. Now, I have three Rolex watches and a broken 8926. As someone noted, spend your money on another brand with a bit more integrity than Invicta. Seiko is certainly a much better choice, especially the Seiko 5 line.

Kohls sell them too. They are really inferior as far as quality goes on those $100 quartz models. For $50-$100 more you can get a Seiko, Citizen, or Bulova that are much better value for the money.

I picked up an Invicta a half dozen years ago that got a watch on my wrist for the first time in a long time and rekindled my long but faint desire for a real sub. It is in many cases a cheap automatic that in most cases will do what it needs to do, tell time without a battery. The quartz, well a quartz is a quartz of course, of course. The list prices are inflated so they can give you a great deal.
For the most part I would stay away from them and the quality is clearly not on par with the subject matter here - but you knew that For an inexpensive watch I would take a Seiko (Monster) and a dozen other brands over an Invicta every day of the week. My hobby money would have preferred I stuck with the $100 something Invicta but that would be no fun

I had an Invicta and for what I paid it was a real good watch. It also made me realize I liked the Sub style watch. Here I am later with 2 Rolexes and no Invicta.

I'm not 100%, but my take its just a marketing ploy. They set the msrp super high then allow the retailers to discount a huge amount

The Seiko 7S26 movement in most Seiko 5's is a decent, not great, time keeper but they feel good on the wrist and if get one with a display back it enhances the experience.
They suffer most from isochronism, and as they are not manually windable, it makes it tough to expect great time keeping like from a Rolex or upper level ETA. |

The MSRP on an Invicta reminds me of that $15.99 bottle of wine that always seems to be on sale for $7.99.

I was just thinking about my Invictas of which I have a number that perform well and are in deed cheaper than my Rolex or Omega. I've found some that I use for water sports that are rugged and relatively water tight. I also have ones I swim with when doing laps. My experience is that I've yet to have a problem with one and they've all been well worth the price I've paid for them. This thread has some real shot takers. I'm really curious as to what their beef is and what negative experiences they've had with the brand. Like I said, I've yet to see one that was a problem. How about some real data and less snob BS.

Just cheap junk not worthy of a gentleman's wrist. They prey on the clueless "bargain shopper" who thinks they just bought a $1200 watch at 99.9% off and got the deal of the century.
But it looks like a rolex so it must be a good as one... right? |

Ah yes, cheap junk means what exactly? They don't keep time? They have a high failure rate? They aren't reliable? Let's not use cheap arm waiving to discredit a company. Be a bit more specific if you can. Let's talk product and not sales tactics. What is specifically wrong with a given watch?

Here are some watches by Invicta I like:
The Subaqua IV is particularly rugged and relatively water resistant; it is a good knock around watch. I use it for boating and sailing the Hobies; it takes a lot of abuse. I bought this one because it reminds me of my dad's old Hamilton. I can't go anywhere wearing it without getting into a discussion with someone who is facinated by it. Cost about $100. I bought this because I was interested in the Yachtmaster; I don't like the contrast on the face so I'd likely not get a Yacht Master in these colors. It is an automatic and keeps pretty got time. Another watch that I can't wear without conversation is the mid size Venom (also relatively water resistant): This was given to me by my wife; it is sort of an homage to the Omega Bond watches. It works well and claims 200 meter water resistance. It is model 0070. I've had these a few years without a single complaint and many compliments (obiously by people who don't know what they're taking about but like the watches.) I guess I'm not a gentleman. -Lee |

I have 5 invictas with automatic movements and they are all very dependable and keep great time now going on three years.I should not expect much for $89.00 but they are great watches. The 8926OB has become a classic and has created its own legend..It is no longer a Rolex submariner homage watch it is simply a 8926OB in my view.get one they are amazing.I love my two rolexes(submariner,Datejust II) and would never compare the invictas to them in quality but i love the 8926's.They are work horses.
