Just got my watch! So, did I get everything I'm suppose to?

Okay, so I finally received my watch (GMT-IIc). The AD said they were shipping it USPS Registered, but it arrived UPS. Well, it got here. I'll post pictures soon, but some initial questions.

I got an M serial number. It came in a beige outer box, the green wave inner box, the watch (duh!), a courtesy cloth (not the cool ones I've seen with the RolexRolex on it), the GMT-II booklet, the factory service booklet, and a warranty booklet. The warranty credit card I have is a copy. Since I wanted to have it sized and wanted to look it over with the possibility of returning it, the AD held onto the card. I had no problems with this. Once I say everything is fine, he will mail me the card.

Am I missing anything? I seem to remember seeing others having received an oyster booklet.

Looks like I'll have to cut my day short so I can run to an AD and have them size my watch band.

This is the first I've seen the watch in person, and it looks amazing. I can easily see why it has such a strong following. Thanks for all the help guys (and gals)!

It sounds ok, except I also got a chronometer certification booklet with the watch, just a small 2 page booklet. I also got some hang tags.

I think you get the ROLEXROLEX cloth only if your a preferred customer only. I.E. long time purchaser at the AD or buy multiple Rolex watches in a short time period.

I did NOT get the Oyster booklet with my GMT IIc, bought from an AD. However, I did get one with my Sub Date, soon to be flipped...

Make sure you get the white cardboard slip cover that goes over the box. Most dealers throw them away. It's not a big deal, but it's nice to have to protect your box.

I must admit, it was really tough getting to today. It's a good thing my wife isn't as crazy about it because hers doesn't come in until another week or so.

The watch is fantastic, and it's so much heavier than the DJ I've been wearing for years. Huge difference. I have a 6" wrist so the watch is a little big on my wrist, but nothing out of the ordinary these days given all the huge watches people wear.

I like the look and love the watch, so I'm going to continue to wear it.

How times have changed!!! When I purchased my 1675 SS GMT in Liverpool in 1967, the AD told me that a box would cost me an 'extra' £10 - about 12% of the cost of the watch!! As a young guy of 21 who intended using the GMT as a daily watch I declined to spend this additional hard-earned money and was given the paperwork (COSC and green chronometer booklet) in a very ordinary paper envelope, which I've still got. I never have needed the box as I have since always used my GMT as my daily watch and I hope it will outlast me!! I reckon that its value to my descendants as a vintage Rolex won't be unduly dimished by the absece of a box - as long as all the paperwork and service history is there.

Your descendants won't care about the box or the paper work. I sure don't. I don't have any paper work, but still cherish the watch that got handed down. As much as I long for the daytona, I would never give up my DJ for it because of sentimental value.
