I've spoken to the seller on this watch personally. It was shipped to an authorized Rolex service center who verified that this is indeed an authentic Rolex. Seeing as they're also one of the largest Rolex ADs in the country, they're not going sell counterfeit watches.

Here is a pic for comparison from the official Rolex web site. If the watch is counterfeit it is a very good counterfeit in my opinion. My personal observations when compaing the questioned Deep Sea to the pic below are as follows:

The fonts on both watches appear to be the same. The alignment of the stampings line up on both watches. The bezel pearls appear to be the same. The length of the hands appear to be the same. "Swiss Made" appears to be located the same on both watches. The bezel insert fonts for the numbers appear to be the same on both watches.

Also, I've purchased new Rolexes from an authorized dealer with a "blank warranty card" so it is not unusual for the warranty card to be missing the buyer's name.

The warranty cards are filled out, it's just covered in the pictures. If you zoom in, you can see it. It's already been verified authentic by a Rolex certified service center.

...hmmmmm...

...I agree that everything else lines up...

...H O W E V E R...look at the hour marker surrounds.

...notice how they are thicker than those of the official site example.

...genuine are THINNER just like springer's example.

...but the one being commented on are much thicker AND the luminescence appears to NOT come to the top of the surrounds like springer's example.

...C O M M E N T...???????????????

I don't know Stan, maybe it is the lighting/photo. One would need to view other samples of known genuine Deep Sea Dwellers.

Again, it's been to an authorized Rolex service center where it's been authenticated.

...hmmm...

...I wonder WHY would an AD send a watch to check for authenticity???????????

...this would NOT be the first time that an AD had a counterfeit watch or band in hand for sale.

...I actually was asked to repair a band that the NY RSC had in for service on a watch. When I rec'd the band from my user, the band was a very good fake and even the RSC in NY missed it during the service of the watch.

...after I told my user, he then contacted the RSC again and the RSC was very apologetic to him.

...it DOES HAPPEN.

...AND, some of the SD's are probably one of the BEST COUNTERFEITS out there!

All of their preowned watches are sent to this service center before selling them, it's standard practice so they can make sure they're selling watches in the proper working order.

There's a Govberg location not too far from me, if any of you are interested in this piece let me know and I'll try to get down to see it.

That's quite a variation from the dial of the DSSD we're used to seeing, certainly enough of a variation to call attention to, even to question. Of course, the look of the dial could be due to any of a number of variables, but which one is it? Is it a problem with photography or a dial variation? Who knows? But does it look normal? No, it doesn't. Would I buy it based on that look despite promises that it is absolutely real? No, I wouldn't, but that's just me. I like the look of the full dots spreading out to the thinner look, and whatever the reason, photographic anomaly or aftermarket dial, anything looking that different has something strange going on that needs an answer beyond reassurances anyone gives me indicating the contrary.

I have an idea. Why don't you copy a photo from the auction and point out the inconsistencies in a photo post here since I do not see the same thing you are discussing in your post. The only inconsistency that I can find in the pic from the first post, and the one I posted from the Rolex web site is the alignment of the words Original Gas Escape Valve with the seconds markers. They are a "tad" off in each photo, but I can't say for sure if that is the same for each Deep Sea, or is due to the angle of the photos.

Below are three more Deep Seas from Ebay - the first from seller topnotch-watch. The second pic is from capetowndiamond also on ebay. The third from ebay is listed by swisswatchexpo. The Original Gas Escape Valve writing doesn't appear to line-up with the seconds markers on these either. So, I'm still at a loss on what is so blatantly different on the questioned Deep Sea from the pics of these three watches and the one I posted from the Rolex web site.

Thickness of the surrounds appears significantly different. May be due to photography, but the top image is more consistent with authentic markers, and the bottom picture more consistent with attempts that fall short of getting it right.

As Stan put it so well:

"..I agree that everything else lines up...

...H O W E V E R...look at the hour marker surrounds.

...notice how they are thicker than those of the official site example.

...genuine are THINNER just like springer's example.

...but the one being commented on are much thicker AND the luminescence appears to NOT come to the top of the surrounds like springer's example."

I messaged the seller and asked him to post pics of the movement and he said he wouldn't because he doesn't want to ruin the movement and get it dirty etc., which I understand.

So I asked if he would post some pics of the serial or model # and he refuses to do so either. Sketchy for sure.
