Rg 44mm
Hi Guys ! Was just offered a preowned RG 44MM for 40K with a slight nick on the ceramic bezel. It has one year remaining on the warranty, to be sent in for the 3rd year. Two Questions :
1. Is It a good price as I understand this is a highly sought after piece and hard to get after the AP gold price drop. 2. Is the ceramic bezel supposed be able to get nicked. Also how expensive is it to replace. Thanks for your help ! |

is it a "nick"/dent? or is it a surface scratch?
I don't think Ceramic on the bezel is supposed to do any of the above. if its a surface scratch you can generally just get it out with an eraser or a shirt and some elbow grease. "nick" or "dent" wouldn't happen...maybe a "chip" but that is still highly unlike i think. |

Jason - Its def a nick. Very strange. I handled the watch this morning, looking at it for a good 10 mins. The owner said he didnt even realize when it happened says the ceramic is very "soft" whatever that means. What do you think of the price. |

It's on the expensive side. Ceramic bezels can crack and chip if knocked hard enough. I would walk away and find a NIB from a trusted seller. Best of luck.

a new ceramic bezel can be had for $2000. if you can factor that in, plus the time it takes to get the bezel replacement and it makes sense? go for it.
but it's not a very hard watch to secure via the network of gray's we have on this wonderful forum. I say go with a new one. Make your own nicks and dings. ceramic isn't "soft" by the way...that guy is on something. |

I wouldn't--but that's because I'm AR about my watches. Have you tried to find a BNIB on grey market/TRF Trusted Sellers?

Hey Paul - I've tried with no avail. The watch is just not available in BNIB condition. This is the absolute least expensive I could find. The price I was quoted on a BNIB was around 44K. Where would you want to be on this piece.

And you're right, since the price decrease on the RG 44, AP has been VERY stingy on getting any new ones to AD's. Hard watch to find right now BNIB. |

$44k new, $40k used, with a messed up bezel that will cost $2k to replace. so your at $42k on a used watch vs 44k new. the warranty is worth something and so is the dealer experience, i'd just buy new.

Hi Sam.
Thank you for the pictures. Ok, if I were you I would pass. 1. I am super anal regarding my watches and that hit will drive me crazy. 2. The price is very high for a used piece. The price on that ROO RG new is 46800 K. I think you can contact David or justrolexes (Tony G) and I am sure they will find you that piece NIBP for less and with out a cracked bezel. You are right they are none posted for sale, but just email them. You can amaze yourself with what they might have in store. Also, If you fix the bezel you will end up paying 42k for a used piece. Make the effort and buy it new in that case. I know he is your friend etc, but believe me you will do him the favor. It's not a good deal. IMHO. Good luck. |

Paul - Do you think buying one from a US AD versus a foreign AD makes a difference when it comes to resale. I've always noted that on the FS ads that the sellers specify US AD. |

If you're willing to pay full price (which is what Boutique will charge), then call NYC Boutique and ask if they can get you one. If you want discount, I think the only place trusted seller could get you one with discount would be with foreign papers. I only buy US AD papers, but that's just me.

$40k for that is a rip-off. AD's are on around 44% markup. Find one of the AD's that's about to be cut off from AP and I'll bet you'd get 20% off a new one.
