Do you want two watches or one?
Do you want a gold watch or two stainless steel watches?
Do you have the cash to add?
Do you not like the white gold datejust?

No one can really answer your question.

Personally, I would keep the gold but I fully understand the want for 2 watches, just remember that you can only wear one at a time.

From the options you gave, it looks like you simply want a Sub and are willing to downgrade your DJ to get it. DJ and Sub go very well together and you'll be covered for both sport and dress

Can you afford the sub without selling the dj? If so, then you are set. You will have the ss sport watch and the gold strap watch.

This is a fair comment, depending on your finances, trying to get another gold one at a later date is going to be hard. This is partly the reason why you need to choose so carefully, sometime you only get one shot.

If you really want a sub, and you're ok with the downgrade to you DJ then go for it! Being a WG DJ you may not even notice the change

Then you should sell it immediately, unless you're convinced that it's appreciating.

Ignore the basis! What you paid is irrelevant. All that matters (financially) is its future value.

I'd get the Sub even if you have to wait for it if you are able.

i highly doubt that the wg dj will appreciate
it was discontinued cause it wasnt much of a seller

cant afford to just get a sub with keeping this one but if i sell it i can use the cash and add a couple of dollars and get 2 ss

Trading gold for SS both with the same name on the face seems wrong to me. They make refrigerators out of SS.

Sounds like you like the idea of a gold Rolex, but don't like the gold Rolex. For me, Gold doesn't go with sports watches, and I never understood the point of white gold.

If it was a YG or RG sub or Daytona then I wouldn't but a WG DJ then I would, esp when you can see how nice the new sports ceramics are.

Owning a gold watch is a lot more than what it looks and feels like.
If you've never had one, you won't understand.
There is a reason gold is so expensive

See, here lies the dilemma of collecting watches. While you may love a piece, we do not not always have the money to buy a new piece that we love. And sometimes, changing the from what we had to something new that we will be excited to own is the change that is made. Then that leads to longing for the piece that we sold, and the vicious cycle starts all over again ;-)
