Raymond Weil Vs. Tag

Hi Guys,

I'm considering to get either Raymond Weil Tradition square in rose gold or Tag Monaco ss. I want to have non-rounded shape watch.

Do you think which one is worth for a buck?

Terrible bang for the buck with both these brands.

IMHO, though I'm hardly alone with this sentiment.

I'd have to agree with that.
When I was 19 I bought a Raymond Weil Parsifal in SS with YG bezel. I paid 1600. ( I was dumb and young.) Sold it 3 years ago for 300 dollars.

Have you ever looked at Bell & Ross?

Those are pretty much hand assembled, and each watch is individually checked and timed before leaving the factory.
AND... they enjoy good resale value.

I really enjoy wearing it. It is a heavy watch, but very accurate and you can read the time from a mile away!
Plus... it has BLUE lume!

A RV Chronograph (Valjoux 7750) is good value when pre owned.

Even 40% off MRSP is not such a good idea as there is still plenty of depreciation to be had.

For less than $800 you can get a very fine chrono RV which originally retailed for $3k.

Also consider Tissot, vintage Tudor, lower-end OMEGA, Tutima, Fortis, etc.

Many B&R models can be had at considerable discounts from very reputable e-sellers.

I've been extremely happy with my Tag Heuer Aquaracer...I bought it two years ago Duty Free ($1250 or there about) without the intention of ever selling it. It was running fast (+13) a day, so I took it to Tourneau, they adjusted it, and I have not had any problems since.

I usually set my watches to www.time.gov, and after 2 weeks or so the Tag is only about +10 seconds.

As for bang for the buck..

If you're buying the watch with the intention of reselling it, bang for the buck may be low...I'm partial to Tag if my opinion matters...

Since you asked, here's an honest, experienced answer.

Both would be terrible bang for the buck. Resale on both would suck....big time.

If you intend buying a good watch as a keeper and at a reasonable, affordable price, OMEGA would be the best way to go.

Not a very good resale value, but if you plan on keeping it, best value for money.

JJ

Agree with you JJ.
However, he wants a square watch. And Omega only has one square watch I think, and it ain't cheap.

Thanks for your comments. I agreed with all of you. Actually, cartier roadster is my favorite. If I bought this one, my wife gonna kick my bud for sure. She was not appreciated a luxury watch that much. I bought her a lady day-just with diamond dial for Christmas. Well, she never worn it yet.... :(

I have a Raymond Weil Parisfal. The thing I used to like about it was it is very thin which works well on my smaller wrist. However, my tastes have changed and I like something more substantial on my wrist now. Matter of preference, I've had my RW for about 10 yrs, it has served me well but I've moved on.
