Opinions on this 1024

First of all let me say hi to everyone, I am in the market for a Rolex and quite interested in the 1024's. I have seen one that I am on the border of buying and would like some opinions if possible.

I have a little bit of knowledge on some Rolex's watches but I believe this is from the 50's so my knowledge is limited to say the least.

I am hoping by adding these pictures someone could help. I believe the band has been changed and is now the 18k example shown. It comes with the paperwork and original box. Just curious to see if these are commonly 18k or 14k? Also I can see the back is silver, any idea as to why this could be.

Looking forward to the responses and getting involved in the community.

The watch isn't gold. It was a very heavy gold plated case, actually a shell over the steel and a heavy gold plated bracelet. In my opinion not worth any more than a steel version.
Also it would help if we knew where in the world you are!!

20 micron gold plated or shell model. Not very popular and relatively cheap without a date.

No my opinion wouldn't change. . It's just nice knowing where folks are from, especially when they're asking about stuff

I am from the UK but live in Spain (Costa blanca) but frequently travel between Andorra, Romania and the UK with business.

I am always keeping an eye out for bargains as I have had some nice watches from pawn shops, jewellers and AD's over the years with a little bit of bartering. This caught my eye but with it being vintage I was unsure. I like to think I know a little bit about them but would never trust my own judgement. With me going between countries often it gives me chance top view a few Rolex shops as well.

Thanks for the advice, think I will give it a miss, plenty more kicking about.

Also noticed this on Gumtree. Looks genuine to me? Only a couple of pics unfortunately.

Also should I have opened a separate thread for this or just use the same?
This will be the last time I ask for a verification. I usually get them checked out by an AD but getting lazy since noticing the 'watchout' section!!

I have a 1024 and love it.... Have it checked out then grab it if the price is right. The fact that it is not popular is part of the reason I love mine. I guess I could get a sub and be like the 10 other guys at my kids little league practice who wear them.. ;)
Keeps immaculate time and looks great on leather.
