Cancel any purchases and wait for Basel?
Do you think that this is the best move to do since Basel festival is not that far away? What do you guys think?

Depends what you are in the market for. Personally, I like where ROLEX is going with the new models such as MAXI Ceramic pieces. So if I was in the market for a Sub or SD, I would definately wait.

You have a good point JJ. 8 months have passed since the GMT was released in the market and there are still availability problems is some parts of the world. Not to mention that there is no discount

I'm with JJ. Still months away till you see anything in the showcases and most likely a price increase is already on the way. If you want it don't wait.

I like classic stuff. You have plenty to choose from now. I hate being a slave to the latest thing as there will always be another Basel or new style, and that feeds a "grass is greener" way of being which, to me, is not peaceful or happy. So, I like to honor the moment now and get what is there now.....just in case I am dead when Basel comes around.
Plus, Albert Camus is my patron hero of philosophy...he along with Cormac McCarthy, and neither of these gents would wait for the next in vogue Rolex. I think Camus would wear an Explorer, and who knows what McCarthy wears. If he were to wear a Rolex, it would probably be a simple DJ. |

Dunno... I think Camus might have worn a Cartier Tank or Santos being the patriot that he was.

Welcome to TRF enjoy your stay here. To be honest in europe the GMT II C is easy to get. Mine arrived 4 days after i made the order. I don't understand why is it so hard to get in other parts of the globe. I knew that there is a problem with availability of this watch in the US but i didn't expect that australia would have the same problem

Post Basel, Rolex will dole out only a few of these new watches to create a need. In turn, driving everyone into a watch frenzy. In the end you'll get your new watch several years from now.
You'll be waiting a long time to get the newest from Basel unless Rolex starts mass producing new watches prior to its initial introduction. I say don't cancel your order. Good Luck. |

I just wish that the daytona hype will be over this year. I have a feeling that something might happen. But again you never know and rolex would never risk to destroy a watch that sells that much. I am pretty sure that we are facing a transition period where rolex is trying to compete other brands like panerai. That's why they are making their watches a bit bigger and they experiment with new materials. I know that panerai cannot compete rolex but you never know what can happen in the long term.

Good question, Velitsko!
I for my part am eagerly anticipating what's going to happen at the Basel Fair and won't flip or buy anything before seeing what will be introduced. I am considering buying an SD again. I really MISS that watch! But it would be interesting to see if an updated SD comes. In a way, I hope the SD is NOT updated, but on the other hand it will be very exciting to see if Rolex could make it even better than it already is!

Hmm depends on what you want to buy... AND what you like. I personally would buy now because I dont like where rolex has been going lately (GMTc, Chapter Ring, Clownmaster...) BUT if you like where rolex is going then you should wait because I think they will continue in that direction.
Cheers |

patience my friend
Wait for it!
Baselworld is just over two months away. The Rolex AD near me has a Sub Date and a Sea Dweller that I want. But I have decided to wait. If Rolex updates either of these two, then I will go put my name on a waitiing list, if not then I will go and buy the Sea Dweller. Sean
