RSC in Malaysia

Could anyone tell me the cost of a typical service at the RSC in Malaysia. I have a SS explorer 2 which is now due for a service and also requires a totally new bracelet. The watch was purchased in KL and since I travel to KL on a monthly basis and am hoping that I can reduce the cost of what will most likey be an expensive service.

The last time I had the explorer serviced in Melbourne the cost was in the order of 700-800AUD. With a replacement bracelet I feel that this cost could easily double.

Also if anyone would care to comment on the quality of the KL RSC this would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to TRF!

The typical RSC charge for a normal service would be around 500-600 US $ worldwide. Some parts are exchanged as part of service, e.g. seals/gaskets and often also the crown, but if other parts need exchanging the cost will rise, of course.

Nice bicycle in your avatar. Tell us more about it!

Hi. Does the standard service include the replacement of the crystal. This was damaged at needed replacement at my last service however I do remember something about the crystal being a standard service replacement item.

The bike is a Santa Cruz Nomad mountain bike designed for all mountain use which means it can handle most types of terrain from smooth cross country to fairly serious downhill tracks. The bike is quite high end, through modest in the world of Rolex, and consists of a US built frame bike and numerous other components which are sourced from various suppliers. Most high end mountain bikes are slightly different since that the rider can buy a frame from his or her preferred manufacturer and then usually specifies each component from the forks, wheel hubs to the shifter cables.

An overhaul meaning movement checks and re-oiling, regulation and case polishing/re-finishing will set you back around RM800-1000 depending on what needs replacement.

Crystals and bracelets are of course optional extras

Hope this helps. The basic service is definitely cheaper than the Melbourne RSC and the work is as good as any.
