Royal Oak Leo Messi Popularity

Hey,

Got myself a leo messi some months back and am loving it.

But am a bit curious about what others think of the watch and how popular it is/value retention cos i notice from forum posts that most of the hype is about the offshore models and standard royal oaks.

Congrats on Messi. Don't think I've seen one here. Not the most popular model, but nothing wrong with it in my opinion. Post some pics.

Lovely watches, but needs a clear caseback and tapisserie (sp.?) dial IMHO.

Don't get me wrong, they are lovely pieces and you are very lucky, just think the dial needs a bit more pizazz to it. But then I have a couple of friends who have them and they bought them for the same reason you did! I tried the RG one that King Fook have in at the moment (whilst I was reaching for the bucket having just tried the Lebron ROO), and it is still a lovely watch.

Dig the watch, however it shows lack of Messi character and input in it IMHO
Like tha clean dial as it brings a elegant scent to the whole thing, and that bezel, killer.
A see through case back and a bit more unique details will be perfect

I agree with you - if it were totally up to me I would have done a little texture on the dial

There have certainly been a few Messis on this forum. Typically it gets a lot of love. This is the most negativity I've seen about it. It's certainly different, but most love it and are thrilled to see a post with it. I think the premium price is the main reason you don't see many of them. I'm a big fan!

I agree with Roger, one of the great glories of an AP is the tapisserie dial and its wonderful refractions so this coupled with the high price was why I went for the ROC, even tho Messi I think will go on to become the greatest footballer of all time, once he shines in a World cup.

Also agree with Roger and others about the lack of the tapisserie dial. Great piece, nonetheless.

It's the only ROC steel Chrono on a leather strap - I would like my ROC to come on a leather strap as well (a later topic on that one, I still can't get the aftermarket strap on).

Congrats!

Beautiful watch! I like it much more than the ROO limiteds.
The future value is difficult to say, but the fact you can still buy it under the listprice is not a good sign.

This is one of the rare celebrity LEs from AP that is not an Offshore. Its a very different take from the usual flamboyant style of sports celebrity LEs, simple and understated, perhaps reflecting the personality of the person the watch honors. Messi is known to be quite humble in real life.

I love the Messi - more so the SS and Platinum than the Gold...

It's an interesting look, but like others I find the dial a bit too flat for my tastes. As long as you like it, that's all that matters.
