Internally is there a difference between the 116710 and 116710 BLNR?

Was curious as there is a few years difference between when the original came out and the BLNR. TIA and sorry for the n00bie question

Buy a blnr and get a spare black bezel assembly for the best of both worlds! But yea, internally the same.

Plus the blue GMT hand vs green, also the date font is different

Don't forget the tools to swap them (ain't cheap).

The dial text is also all white - no green.

No difference whatsoever this is how they were released after Basel so quick by the Rolex robots. Just add blue bezel different colour fonts on dial and second time zone hand.

Follow up question, so it's still the 3186 on the BLNR right? The 3187 is newer so why was it not put in the GMTIIC? Is the 3186 "superior" to the 3187?

The 3187 is larger and thicker than the 3186 and wouldn't fit in the 116710 case without modifying the case which Rolex isn't going to do.

The lume is Chromalight blue, another subtle difference, although the latest 116710LN are also Chromalight too.

3187 is in expII / larger movement to fit better in 42mm case

I am intrigued how you, and many others too, come to conclusions such as this. It seems to be the driver for inflated pricing in the 16710/3186 models.

The new DJ II uses a 3136 that differs from the standard 3135 in a paraflex shock system - the same difference between the 3186 and 3187. Also the Explorer 39 uses a 3132 movement that differs from the typical non-date 3130 movement because of, you guessed it, the paraflex shock system. The Milgauss 3131 movement is a 3130 with non-ferrous parts...

None of these variances make the movement "superior" to the other, only different reflecting Rolex trend towards in-house parts vs. vendor supplied parts.

My belief is that the 3187, the 3132, and the 3136 are the future of Rolex movements and we will see them incorporated into the line-up over the coming years.. Nothing "superior" here, just technical evolution..
