I think it's a great idea. If we could be decisive and pick a place haha

I live and work Downriver but could meet in Metro Detroit. I'm near I-94, I-75, and Southfield. Birmingham is an option, Dearborn is cool, Ann Arbor is slick, we've got options.

I would be up for a Detroit GTG. Birmingham or Royal Oak are a couple of good options.

There are a few others TRF members in the metro Detroit area. I recall a thread back in the summer time on this idea.

Maybe during Thanksgiving week?

Thanksgiving week works for me. I'm in retail, so it'd be great if the meetup started. Or lasted, into the evening. My shop closes at 6:30,,, I can be out by 7.

I'm a possible depending on the date and time.

We should alert people we know who may not read this section (like me -almost missed it).

What's your shop, Flip?

My shop is Opplemans Pawn Shop in downtown Allen Park.

I'm definitely in for a Thanksgiving weekend meeting! I've never been to a gtg.

I haven't either. I suppose it's fruitless to ask you to let us know when a good Rolex or something hits the shop.

Let's set a time and date…. what do you folks think of meeting on 11/29/13? Around 5 or 6 pm?

There's a lot of places to meet around Allen Park. Buddy's Pizza in Dearborn is a nice spot. I'm open to travel too.

Dearborn is a bit too far for me.

I'm ok with Birmingham or troy summerset area.

Let's do it. Anybody into cigars? There is a good cigar shop with a lobby and excellent ventilation on Old Woodward. There's a nice vintage boutique on Old Woodward too. Birmingham is preferable compared to Troy, imho.

I think the vintage shop you are referring to is back in time, but their stock is extremely limited. Every time I have been in there, only one old omega in the display case, So not much to look at.

My very good friend just moved to Birmingham, Darakjian jewelers. He carries AP and many other watches. It's located right next to Cameron's steak house at the willits building. Its beautiful inside. just opened last week. If anyone cares to meet in a store as to a restaurant, this would be the place.

But, if members want to go to a relaxing restaurant environment, there are so many excellent choices in downtown Birmingham that should meet everyones palate.

churchills cigars is the other place I think you're referring to. They are nice inside. They do have a food menu as well as a cigar menu, but I have never eaten there so I cannot speak on behalf of their food.

A couple places I can list in Birmingham that I eat on a weekly basis are
220 (great all around food and atmosphere)
Lux bar (very small inside but great food)
bistro joes above papa joe's market (I eat there twice a week, food is to die for as well as environment)
Social Kitchen (they are good but always very very busy)
Café Via (small inside and small menu but good.)
Cameron's steak house. (big menu great food and environment)
Everything else in B-ham are all steak houses that are so so. Any other restaurant I did not mention does not have a full bar.

Then there is always capital grill in troy or J Alexander's if no one wants to meet in b-ham.

I don't smoke, chew, or ..... well - I'm probably not going to be able to make it anyway - so smoke your brains out.

Thanks Sub. It opened when I no longer lived on the East Side, and then they shrunk the Tiffany's, so that upset the wife. I guess I don't make it to Somerset often enough.

Somerset and B'ham are so close you could easily do both.

depending on time and place, I would go. I listed a few places..

But at this point, It doesn't seem like there is enough interest for this to be an actual GTG if there are just two of us

WOW
Wish I was able to make it but that Friday is a busy day for me and will also be quite busy for all the places you mention.

Churchills is AWESOME for good food, good drinks and great cigars!
Darakjian just opened and while I have not been there yet I can promise you Armen and his family have built probably one of the nicest stores in Birmingham!

I hope you guys have a GREAT time if by some chance the date gets changed please let me know.

Also if any of you guys in the West Bloomfield area EVER want to get a cigar during the daytime weekdays let me know! Churchills WB is more or less my second office.

I just heard back from another R. guy and he suggested that Black Friday is not ideal for many of us.

Agreed, Black Friday is less than ideal. What about the 27th? That's the day I've had in my head all along. Or even the following Sat?
