Audi A8 - any owners?

Hi everyone -

Just picked up a A8L 4.0 and wanted to see if there are any other owners among us.

1st time Audi owner and so far, the car is incredible!

Does anyone think that the wheel and tire package from the dealer makes sense? I have the 20 in factory rims with Pirelli tires.

The cost that I was quoted is $1,650 for unlimited repairs / replacements. Also they will throw in a clear bra film for the front & rear bumpers.

What do you guys think? The roads could be bad in the winter but my question is more about if this is the right cost for the package - the finance person didn't know what they were doing or offering at the time of sale.

Thanks guys

I'm a D3 A8L owner. I'll probably upgrade with the next updated A8L - not a fan of first model years.

I will post some pics soon.

Traded in a Porsche Panamera 4S for this one.

I love the smooth transfer of power and the comfort of the A8 4.0

The Panamera was a fun commuting car but this car is on a whole new level.

As far as the wheel package I would say yes for city driving…20in rims vs pot holes with run flats ouch!

Really jealous here man.

I am in the market for a Q5 TDI and after looking at the BMW and Porsche offerings, i am very attracted to the Audi designs.

I would be tempted to get the tire package as the 19's on my wife's MDX are $250 and pop and we just had to replace one last week. I can imagine the additional premium for the 20's would be hitting $400 per tire.

If you have to replace one with more than 30% wear I seem to recall you have to replace them all on the AWD systems, no???

If so, there is your $1,600.00.

Hey Alex, great car !!

I suggest you invest in a VAGCOM tool, it will let you diagnose your car and let you do some useful tricks with your car

let me know if you need anything for this car, or help with a VAGCOM

I had 19" on my F10 535i and yeah those tires are easily $400, more if you go with the higher-rated performance tires! so the $1,600 is not bad if it has a wide coverage. I would read the fine print though... they will protect themselves with dumb clauses and you want to know if you'll be covered in the typical scenarios. Congrats on the car!

Does anyone know if there are any chips for the D4? Something to make it even crazier?

Saw a video that a 4.0 is able to do 0-60 in 3.8

Hi Alex, car is N/A.. there is a ECU tune for the car, however your not gonna get a dramatic difference in horsepower like a turbo or supercharged engine

I specialize in ECU tuning, so if you have questions shoot me a PM

$1650 for unlimited repair/ replacement of tires on an A8 sounds like a great deal...

I would imagine a new set of rubber for that car is going to cost you easily $1000 so if you plan on keeping it long enough to necessitate 2 sets of tires its more than paid for itself...

A8, one of the prettiest of the big saloons, and the only Audi that has ever caught my eye since seeing one in "Ronin". Second only to the classic 4 eyed XJ8.

The 4.0 is a twin turbo engine. You can see if APR has anything or even stasis.

Very nice, I'm in the market right now and looking at the BMW 750, my wife keeps asking me to check out the Audi's as well. The A8 is a great looking vehicle.

Congrats on a nice ride

With those 20" possum-mashers I would say that the wheel & tyre package is a must-have

Take your wife with you to test drive the Audi - the 3.0 has the same power as the outgoing 4.2.

didn't catch what year the car was,

before you decide to tune the Audi, do a google search on VW / Audi TD1 warranty
