Safe recommendation

Hey guys, so I've got my watches in my safety deposit box in the bank, but it's become a hassle trying to switch out watches. Have any of you guys bought a safe so you can put your watches in there? If so, any recommendations???

How do you keep a safe from getting to humid inside. Here in Hawaii they tend too get moldy smelling! Any suggestions?

I think about this topic occasionally septic all after I walk by a locksmith shop who has a large selection in the window. My question is this, you've got to buy a big enough safe to hold stuff and large enough so the crooks can't carry it away. So how do you lift it to get it into your house?

Use a golden rod to keep humidity out. The golden rod plugs into a standard electrical outlet. I've had one for 15 years or more. My safe has small hole in it to feed the cord through. Try doing a google search.

It's no harder than writing a check or handing over a credit card.

They are big and awkward. Pay a professional to do it.

We got a quote of $400 to relocate our safe to the garage then back into the house while we replaced flooring.

Mine is light enough to carry but has a trembler alarm inside. It is fireproof and I have it mainly for that purpose. When travelling for a few days I also keep barbells in it.

The store, assuming you bought locally, can probably arrange delivery and installation for you. Also, most movers can, and have, handled safes before and have the appropriate equipment.
Keep in mind that not everyone gets a large safe. Many (most?) safes have mounting holes inside the safe to allow them to be bolted to a floor joist.

Which safes are heavy enough but not too big?

If getting it in and out of the house is an issue, there are modular safes available. They are lighter, but offer decent protection and you could bolt them down or put heavy items inside. Zanotti and Snap Safe are two companies that produce them.

I look at safes as buying time. I prefer to keep it in the house where it's covered by motion sensors, so one way or another, an intruder will trip the alarm getting to the safe. Once the alert flies, I then hope the safe will slow down the intruder just long enough for someone (whether it be myself, family, or law enforcement) to respond in force.

The barbell idea is a pretty good one! Two people can lift mine (sort of), but another 50 lbs. or so would make it super difficult.
