Did You Get The Rolex You Wanted ???

So many of us are multiple Rolex owners.........Why is that ?

My first Rolex was a Sub....and I loved it, however, my job at the time seemed to favor the GMT Master.

So, my second Rolex was the GMT and I wore it constantly during the days for many years.. Since then, the Sub has usually been my go-to timepiece..

Hmmmm, did I get the right watch the first time ?? If I had, would I have ever got another one ??

Did you buy a Rolex of a certain type because it was a good deal, or after you got it were you disatisfied and got another.. ??

Did the hype for one watch sway your decision and later you had to get the one you really wanted..??

Are you still trying to find yourself in a particular Rolex model ????

I bought my favourite one which is the GMT II C so until now everyting is ok. If i will ever buy a watch in the future it's going to be something more flashy and dressy.

I bought my favorite as well! There may very well be others, but this one's my keeper!

I bought the Sub Date 1st, then soon was tempted by the SD. However, a SS GMT IIc became available locally, and could not pass up the opportunity to get the "latest and greatest" from Rolex, and was hoping it will be "the one". But alas, the SD temptation would not die, and thus had to get the SD, much to the dismay of my wife... I'm thinking the SD will be it for a long time, unless Rolex blows me away with the updated SD.

Long story short.....yes....and by total luck. I've had my eye on the 50th anniv sub for 3-4 years but came to the conclusion I couldn't get it and moved to getting either the ss Sub or a GMT Master II "Pepsi"......by stoke of luck, the last AD I visited in my area had an LV come in that morning (still was in styrofoam and plastic shipping case).....and here she is....

Good question, Larry!

I for my part am always on the lookout for another watch. Currently, I miss my SD. So I might get one of those again. And a DJ 116234 silver dial as a dress watch to have something completely different.

I remember starting out in real estate and sitting across the table from a lawyer and I couldn't keep me eyes off his TT DJ. After getting situated in my job my first Rolex was a TT DJ. Then after doing things no one wearing a Rolex on his wrist should be doing, I went out and got a Sub. Now I feel I have the basics and future Rolexs are going to be icing on the cake.

Excellent questions, Larry. I tried to get a good, interesting representation of all of the different styles of Rolex. I am holding out for a good deal on a Bark Day-Date. That will probably complete my collection. Maybe...perhaps...

Got my Sub first... Was in love with it. Turns out, I like heavier bracelets and have always been a sucker for polished center links... Thus, the GMTIIc...

Oh, and I love subs with straps so, had to go NATO on the Sub as I love the watch and the dial+bezel combo. BOND BABY

Narrowed down to two, the sub lv and the GMT II C. Went to the best AD in northern NJ and the GMT II C was the one that loved me back. Only problem was the AD didn't love me back once he found out the discount he gave me was large. Now he would have given me 15% off the new price but would not honor the receipt I had in hand with balance owed.

The way I'd get back at that AD is to tell everyone what a victim I am over and over again and make sure that I never ever let it go.

I've had a SS DJ for several years now. I love the watch as it is as simple as it gets IMO. It's also a watch that's been passed down, so it has an incredible amount of sentimental value attached to it.

This year, I bought my first Rolex, a SS GMT-IIc. I absolutely love it. But it was not the one that I originally wanted. Like many, I had to have the SS Daytona. I still really want one. But an interesting thing happened after I got the GMT-IIc. My desire for the Daytona has waned a bit. I still want it, but I don't feel like i HAVE to have it. So I'm quite content and pleased getting the GMT-IIc. And I think I have a great combination with the DJ silver dial.

I've attached my two watches and the lady's DJ I got for my wife this year.

No and I never will.

I don't have over $50K to spend on a 5517 Sub.

I've always bought watches that favor the SS Sub....ie Invicta 8926, Alpha.
So now I have the real thing. I don't need another watch (I have 13) but if I bought another Rolex it would be a GMT because I could use the GMT function for traveling.

I'm ecstatic that I decided to buy the GMT first. When I first saw it, I was immediately grabbed by it and new it would be my first Rolex. After two months, I'm still very happy with that decision. More so even, because it takes wearing a Rolex daily for a while to really appreciate its virtues.

I bought the Sub first. Though I have bought and continue to look for others, the Sub is the first, and you'll always love your first. I'll never sell it.

I do, however, wish I had gotten one with lug holes. That's my only regret.

My first was a SS DJ. Made me realize how much I liked the Rolex brand. Then had to get a GMT II. My "stranded on a desert island and can only have one watch" watch.
So to answer your question, Larry...............YES!

I got the one I wanted after the dial swap, I picked the champaign dial because I loved the look of my wifes DJ. But now with black dial I am totally happy.

Bought my SS Sub date after 25 years of pining so... yes. I did get the one I wanted. The first one I wanted that is. Hopefully the next one will come to earlier than the first one.

My first Rolex was passed down to me by my Grandmother when my Grandfather passed away. It is a 1963 Gold DJ It was in need of repair and needed something done with the band so it stayed in my safe until just recently when I decided to have it serviced and get a leather strap put on it so that it could be worn.

I've always liked nice watches and wanted a SS Rolex that I culd wear with out fear everyday. I didn't really feel like the gold DJ was an everyday watch. I finally talked my wife into letting me look at Rolex's when my bouliva I had worn for a long time died. My dream Rolex, the one I really wanted was the SS/Plat Yachtmaster. Being new to the Rolex buying market I started my search in the pre-owned market and just wasn't finding one out there. I finally setteled on the Sub Date with a promise from the store that I could trade it for what I paid toward a SS/Plat Yachtmaster when one comes in. Having worn the sub for some time now it has really "smiled" at me and now I am having second thoughts about the Yachtmaster. I know I will not trade my Sub this watch is GREAT, but I was thinking of purchasing the Yacht as a seccond SS watch. But now I'm just not sure the Yacht is "Smiling" at me. Now that GMT IIc that's another story

What to do what to do. I know I'm not finished, my collecting has just begun. Did I start out to collect Rolex watches NO. I just wanted one to wear everyday. But when you see how nice they are and how they feel and look on your wrist you just can not resist the temptation to get the next one.

If only my wife felt the same way

Not yet..

My first Rolex was a vintage Date, now I got a 1601 Datejust from 1970.

I REALLY want a brand new Submariner LV...

Rafael.

I have been perfectly satisfied with all my Rolexes. I had to sell my first Sub some years ago and have been kicking myself ever since. I decided that it was time for a new one last year, but really had my eye on the Exp II Black Face. So I bought it without hesitation, but I have always been a Sub guy. A few weeks ago I stopped into a local AD with the wife and he had my dream watch the LV. The problem is that I haven't even looked at the Exp II since.

My first Rolex was an Explorer, I took it back and exchanged it for a DateJust because I needed the date feature. If I knew then what I know now I would have kept the Explorer and just bought a Datejust. I added a Submariner a few weeks later. In hindsight I should have bought the Explorer again and added the Sub sometime down the road.
