Bose headphone cushions
Dear TRF,
I currently have pairs three bose headphones (one for pc, one for in bed with the iPad and one for on the go), they're all very comfortable and the sound quality is pretty good but the cushions are just complete crap, they start flaking after a year orso and then you need to pay 30,- to get new ones... Am I just unlucky or does anyone here have the same experience? |

I have had the same experience. Not to your extent.
After I use mine I actually put them away in the case that was supplied with them and the cushions have lasted substantially longer. they aren't the best quality but they are far from the worst =) |

I'm wondering if it's even real leather, 30 bucks for some cushions isn't exactly top-notch lambskin worthy, they're not bad but they could have been better for €150,- msrp per pair of headphones.

I have invested a lot in Bose sound systems. I do feel downfall in their quality and they are not able to compete the market like they used to. I have one inear and other around ear and both sound like a very ordinary headphones.
Not impressed by their home speakers as well. |

You spend your $300 much better than Bose. Much better.

My thoughts exactly. I don't want to sound crass --- but I avoid that brand.

Bose was never quality to begin with. Just marketing hype.

So as good as the sound was I decided it best not to buy a pair. Shame too, I've been a Bose lover since the 901s way back.

I seem to upgrade to the newest model before the pads go bad. I have not had that problem with the noise canceling type. I hope the new ones serve you well.

My wife bought me a pair of the small noise cancelling ones for flying and in Australia they were $799!!!!! had no dramas for many years, then did not use for a while and they are decomposing if I use them i get little black "salt" all over my ears, clothes etc. Last two trips to US Bose stores did not have the pads so hopefully next trip I will get new ones.
I think the quality is OK but not amazing, I have a Bose Lifestyle Surround hooked up to my TV, sound is more than adequate.

My overall experience with Bose is pretty good, my Companion 5 pc speakers are fantastic and I love my headphones as well (despite the cushion lifetime). |

I just ordered a pair for my Around Ear 1 headphones, they reduced the price from €29,95 to €19,95 (incl. shipping).
