I'm so relieved.....
that there is nothing from Basel 2014 that would warrant flipping my beloved Explorer 42mm.

Good for you! :)
Today's shenanigans have got me thinking about the blue and black GMT II now though... Oh, and a black dial steel Daytona :) Sent from my phone

Don't. It's about the last tool watch left.

Lol. Have to agree. Everything I actually want I know I won't be able to afford for years to come.

don't take this wrong but...I love your watch and all but saying there isn't anything in the new lineup that you'd flip your expy for is a stretch IMO...I guess its all personal preference at the end of the day since your the one wearing it but the new SD is pretty badass...if you were offered a new SD straight up for your Expy would you consider it then?

Nothing that inspires me either.
I'm oddly drawn to the SD. But I have to see it in person. I also like the gmt and the milgaus. But no enough to buy either one. I'm relieved as well. If I can go a year without a new watch it would be a miracle. And I'd save a fortune!!!

My humble reactions are as follows:
The GMT Master II looks incredible, it's just not something I would purchase for the price it is going to cost. Something about a watch with a tool history in precious metal bothers me. If it was in stainless, I would line up. The Sea-Dweller has no effect on me. I don't think the nostalgia is worth the price hike. I just bought a Submariner anyway. The Sky-Dweller while not one of my favorite models did a nice job of adding some attractive variations. I especially like the white/silver dial with the black leather strap. Daytona looks ridiculous. The Milgauss is the only reference I could see myself getting. I've owned the GV previously but flipped it because it wasn't the most comfortable watch. Unfortunately this is definitely a piece I need to see in person to determine whether all the colors work. The Cellini and Oyster Perpetual line look amazing. Again not the size and style for me in particular but they are the first Cellini's that really look high end in my opinion. These can compete with some the big names if you ask me. |
