Question about Crown release
I recently purchased a 116618 and have a question about the piece. Recently (it may have done this before, though perhaps I didn't notice) when I unscrew the crown to wind the movement, it does not fully extend into the winding position. I continue to turn it counter clockwise as if I was unscrewing it, though it doesn't pop all the way out to the point where the watch can be wound. The second I begin to turn it clockwise, it pops into the position.
Is there anything I should be worried about? It does not always do it however I want to make sure nothing is wrong. A few minutes ago I unscrewed and screwed it in a few times and it repeated and just recently I tried it and three times it popped into the proper winding position. Knowing very little about watch making, I figured I'd ask here. Just a fluke? Or if persists do I need to do something? Your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks! PS- I had recently traveled with the piece on an airplane and didn't have to change the time when I arrived at my destination, didn't know if this would play a factor? Also, the watch is keeping perfect time and the crown moves freely and smoothly when in the desired position. |

Yes, it is normal.
The Crown/stem is a multi-element piece and not just a crown stuck on a rod. When you unscrew it, it floats around a spring loaded socket and nut. This socket and nut must engage for the Crown to be functional and it will not always align simply by unscrewing it. Also, when you screw it back down the socket and nut must disengage before being threaded back onto the tube..
