Pure speculation: Any chance of a new SS Sub next year?
The BLNR was released last year, and with the release of the BLRO and the SD-C this year maybe Rolex has filled the blanks and the road is open for a new SS Sub. The Sub line is very stable, but do you think its possible that we see a new SS Sub next year?

Unlikely? It isn't a special year for the Sub.

No reason to do so, IMHO.

I don't think so. My guess is that we'll see soon a SD or Sub on a rubber strap. Rolex filed the patent for the strap, some time ago.

Not likely - but too soon to speculate either...

The only different color combination I remember is the LV and the LV-C took its place so I also don't see it happening, but if someone thinks its possible Id like to know why.

Actually. . .
I think it would not be unreasonable to see - if not next year, in the near future: [1] a slight revision to the SubC case, to where the case/lug/crown guard profile matches that of the Sea Dweller. [2] I can see the new CEO, Dufour, perhaps inspiring the release of "classic" or heritage pieces - for example, a no-crown guard Sub 5508 heritage piece, or even better, a 5510/6538 Big Crown Sub no-date heritage piece. We've seen some nice select heritage piece reissues from Omega, such as the Speedmaster First Omega In Space (which is a CK2998 reissue with straight lugs and no crown guard), their upcoming Seamaster 300 CK2913 reissue (also with straight lugs and no crown guard), and multiple iterations of the Speedmaster 9300, which is the most modern co-axial calibre, presented in both modern (twisted lug/crown guard) and classic (straight lug/no crown guard cases). This has went over very well, and to enthusiastic receptions. I can see Rolex successfully doing the same, and it being received well. For example - show of hands: who here would buy a new ceramic no crown guard SubC No-Date Big Crown, if Rolex announced at Basel next year? Mark |

Glacier blue platinum Sub would be awful!
I would have to have one and that would be another bank account killer!

A platinum Sub is the only thing that I can think of, though that sounds pretty unlikely. I'd expect a platinum GMTIIc before a platinum Sub. .

As for Omega, I simply am using them as a point of reference - they make products in-family to some of the sport models we are discussing here - with a similar history in the field, going back for about as long. So discussing what they do, and how their design decisions are received, may give some indication for how similar efforts may pan out at Rolex. No one is saying Rolex should look like Omegas or vice versa - each brand should stay true to itself and its history. |

the only thing i can see happening is quality rubber straps being included or offered as an AD purchase option for all diver models (to start).
rubber-b and other manufacturers are doing brisk business selling premium quality straps so its clear there's a market for them. the only barrier would be rolex insistence on manufacturing themselves but i would personally have no issue if they outsourced the strap if rolex still made an oem buckle in gold, plat or ss with the coronet. just my thoughts. |

Good question. Just out of curiosity, did they release the ceramic LV and LN the same year?
