INcomming my first rolex

Hello everyone after the issue i had with almost purchasing a fake rolex and thanks to RTF i didn't, i thought it would only be very fitting to share my first real rolex with the forum, i just baught it today from a proper watch dealer who sells rolexes for a living and he was kind enough to open it and clean a few marks i noticed well here it is:

specs:
18 ct white gold bezel
36mm face
black dial
stainless steal jubilee bracelet

model:
1601 oyster perpetual datejust
year 1971

Price: arm and a leg lol

the manufactured year could be wrong tho because i typed the serial number in a website and thats the year the came up , the seller told me its vintage and he deals in watches which are pre 1970's if anyone has any thoughts on the watch please let me know, he also said the bracelet was stainless steel with white gold links running down the centre.

yep i just called up the dealer and asked him about the year he also told me 1971 and that 1601 models only came in two tone bracelets, hes a really nice fella and i will be looking forward to buying more watches in the future from him.

No problem. Well, usually two tone means half stainless steel half gold, so it should look something like this:

I don't think Rolex ever made TT SS/WG bracelets, that seems rather pointless anyway.

Come to think of it, the bracelet links don't look as flush as they should be. Could it be that the bracelet is aftermarket? I doubt it's TT anyway as the case looks full SS.

Thanks for the reply nick have a really good eye yes the links are a little unlevel on the one half of the bracelet (the 12 o'clock half) on closer inspection i can see little dents barely noticeable but its on all the middle links running down that half of the bracelet, it seems like it has been re-tightened at one point due to the links stretching i guess whoever tightened them didn't do the best job and my bony wrist doesn't help much too lol.. the dealer said something about jubilee straps were only in two tone the year the bracelet was made, im no expert and i will get it tested in a jewelers but to be honest i don't mind if the bracelet was stainless its my first Rolex and i love it, but thanks again nick i appreciate your advice.

I'm in the UK as well, down in Cardiff. I think £1,500 isn't bad, considering the market we have here. Whereabouts in the UK are you?

Nice Rolex. The only white gold on this watch would be the bezel and possibly the hands. Rolex never made a stainless steel and white gold bracelet. With proper care, you have a beautiful watch that will last forever.
