Thoughts on 088?

hi guys,

Looking to get my 2nd PAM and I current have my eyes on the 088. Unfortunately I havent seen one yet in person. Just in websites... any thoughts? I currently have a 390 (flipped my 005 then added cash) and now I want something different, but still a PAM. Just to add, I've never seen the 111 or any of those sandwich dials in person...ty

Love my Pam 88 that I ought in 2009. Sweet GMT and even at 44mm is very comfortable to wear as a daily driver or as a weekend watch.

I had an 88. Overall I liked it back then, but my tastes have changed. I would highly recommend a sandwich dial though. It's pure awesomeness.

I've always really liked the 88 and it will fit you just like your 390. It's a classic post-Vendome model.

That being said, you would have two Bettarini case 44 mm Luminors. I would probably give thought to a Radiomir for number 2...

I too fell in love with the 88GMT a few years ago with never seeing one in the wild. In fact, I was torn between that and the 359 until I finally was able to try them both on, then it was an easy decision for me, the 88. It wears comfortable, it looks great dressed up or down, and the whole case is polished so it really stands out, get the 88, you will be happy

Thanks guys for the input! I have a fairly small wrist and since most Rads are 45mm, I better stick to 44mm Pams.... Im torn between 111 and 088, but unfortunately I cant find one near my area to try one on so I'll end up purchasing in the classified sections as usual without even trying in on :)

Between those two choices

I'd go with the classic - the 111. However if you want auto, the 88 is a really nice looking watch IMO. This is my 6.5 wrist.

Nice...quick question...it the 111 thicker than 390 due to the see through caseback?

I don't believe so. They should be the same thickness.

Since you asked....I think the 88 is too busy. I love the simplicity of the more basic watches, like my 111.

With that said, you can't go wrong.

Enjoy!

Thanks again for all your input... I'll check the classified section and see if there's any 088 or 111 on sale :)

88 is very nice and gives you a useful complication.

I would choose the 111, i would also look for an older painted version vs the sandwich dial...sandwich is wonderful but the painted pops a bit more. Either way the 111 is timeless.

The black dial will be a nice compliment to your 390.

Now that 111 is part of the equation, I would definitely take 390 + 88 over 390 + 111.... I think you greater differentiation with the former.

Hey guys...totally forgot about this thread...just an update...I ended up getting the 111 back in July 2014 and its an awesome watch. I wear it more often than the 390... I'm now back in the hunt for another PAM. I initally want to get a black pam (026), but the destro doesnt sit comfortably on my wrists and the 360 is hard to come by and expensive. Maybe a titanium casing 176 or to save some $$$ - the base 000!

I have both 88 and 026 as they are completely different. 088 is more elegant with shiny SS case and more functional due to GMT. 026 is super masculine. I
Might be inclined to sell/trade my 088 which is in excellent condition as I have my eye on the 441. Let's check some pricing! Pm me

I like the 088 but prefer the 029 as far as the GMT's go. Numbers on bezel, large second hand, tuxedo dial...all very different and alluring
